I totally agree with you but I think the ML misunderstood the MC that she is so scared of him, she doesn't want to even look or be in the same area as him. Just because she doesn't look at him when she is scared doesn't mean he is not the reason she is scared (that is why it is easy to misunderstand). I think it's difficult to randomly assume that she is scared her father will kill her because the ML doesn't seem to know her situation nor does the MC explain her situation.
I mean she's definitely scared of him, considering her view that he is muscular so he can beat her and all but she doesn't necessarily see him as a monster like he thinks. But the underlying issue would be her fear of her father and how he mad her think abt it. if u consider it in general is a women marries a muscular man she'd be happy he's strong to protect her and etc but because of her father's abuse she sees the muscular part as a threat and like the maid said if a husband wills it she can be beaten, that's mainly why I mentioned it's her father that pops in her head
if you read the novel you'll hate the ML even more.

Only after 30 chapter or so, he become more gentle but still have nasty habit assuming thing based on his own prejudice and the fact the FL didn't bother to clear up the misunderstanding only make it worse. if it wasn't for translator note that keep saying that it's gonna get better, I already dropped it after 10 chapter.

So there's a moment where FL and ML are training their magic together by duelling, suddenly a guy became so mad to ML because he thinks ML is hurting FL (despite it's obviously only training), then FL remember how people in her hometown also act exactly like that guy, then she concluded that it's because arundel magic, people tend to be overprotective and blindly enchanted to the owner of arundel magic, that guy blindly defended FL all of a sudden when FL activated her arundel magic, the sister was born with it so she might unconsciously activate her magic and enchanting people around her including her parents, that's why the parents and so many people in her hometown are shitty to FL
