I rather have Irie tolerate the pain of being friends (having a non-romantic relationship) with someone you like than establishing a romantic relationship where you, as a lover, expect romantic stuff.
I don't think this is not just a question of Kousuke's lack of experience in the field of romance, it's more of a question of whether Kousuke actually hold romantic feelings towards Irie. So far, it seems to me that the reason he doesn't want to let go of Irie is that he is afraid of losing a friend.
oh, I know, this would most likely end with Kousuke actually liking Irie and the two living happily ever after. But what I want to raise as a point is that, establishing a relationship under such circumstances feels more painful than being a non-romantic partner aka friend where you know that you don't have any right, nor privilege (just wishful thinking) to expect some romantic progress.
But we still have yet to see from Kousuke's point of view, so let's not disregard some possibilities that may suddenly unveil as the story progresses.

I agree with everything you said. Though I just want to point out, to be fair to Irie, he developed romatic feelings under a misunderstanding, and it's hard to take that emotional step back. Also every time he tried to end the relationship, since he couldn't do friends, it was Kousuke who wouldn't let him.
But I think your point about the nature of why Kousuke is getting into this relationship is why I'm not really enjoying this manga.
I do get it that Ono might be too desperate in saving Ikumi that he might have unintentionally inflicted bruises during the CPR (someone needs to learn how to calm down in doing CPR)
but what if that desperation to save him might actually kill Ikumi in the end?

in fact, CPR without bruises most of the time is not succesful.......even broken ribs would be normal...
yup. also cpr has a low success rate so it's kinda funny to see it used as a trope so often.

Yup, cracks in the ribcage is a minor treatable injury as compared to when the heart stop pumping the much required oxygen-filled blood to the brain. As such cracking ribcage is common. So proud to see first-aiders here
Can't Irie just, you know, compromise with 'let's just stay as friends, so go on and reject me outright' (if he can't refuse Sousuke's pleas since the guy doesn't have any friends who would accept his 'clumsiness') rather than testing out a relationship with Sousuke. I mean, of course, we do know that, most likely, Sousuke would fall in love with Irie for some time, but this is quite a risky and painful investment for Irie. He just dug a deeper grave for himself...

I thik t would be rather painful for irie and nearly impossible for him to move on if they would just stay friends. I mean if you have always your crush befor your eyes and you are always getting touched by him ( cause of his clumsiness) it's really hard to surpress your feelings . I think Irie would do the right think to end the contact, I mean it is pitifull that the guy doesn't have friends but Irie should think of his happiness first

It's kinda sad, I mean, sure we don't really get happy endings all the time, but I really wanted for his story to develop...

it's kinda heartbreaking to see someone fall in love with someone who is already committed in a relationship. Of course, the owner would still hold a tiny speck of hope as he is not only close to the seme, but also because of the words of that seme. I mean, who wouldn't get flustered when someone told you that they want to see you happy, 'I like you the most' or 'you're the most likely person I would go with to Noah's ark'? Who wouldn't feel hope when someone would tell you that you're that important in their life? and who wouldn't get their hopes shattered or feel disappointed when that person suddenly panics for their wife, realizing that no, you never had a chance, because the truth stays, he is committed in a relationship and he already has a family?... heartbreaking... truly heartbreaking... Why must you pull my heartstrings so hard, sensei?
anyway, I really love that manga... uuuu, even if it's painful...

Seeing the how the cover of the manga turned into a somewhat lewd version, i already don't know what to expect :)))) but i love this, it's actually far from my ideal favorites and it's already just the first chapter but i don't know, i just love this :)))
One of the things I like about this is that I don't love the characters all throughout the story, in some parts, I extremely dislike them, disagree with them, or even loathe them, however, in some parts, I admire them. They might have some outrageous qualities I may find detestable or lovable, but the love-hate feelings I have for them is quite similar to how I feel with people around me.
They feel quite human to me, I'm not sure if I'm the only one feeling this or maybe I'm just too emotional or sentimental today...
