1.) Personally, I don't want to be a gay man...I'm still trying to figure out how to be a straight...ish woman.
2.) Maybe because it has been done a lot in manga. I love variety, but I don't see anything wrong with fem characters. As long as the personalities of the character are unique I don't mind.
