The criticism with our main girl is unfair to me. I have only heard the opinions from others how dumb she is and right Riftan is because she is so inexperienced. Would it not be a boring story for her to grow up the way she did and not want to finally fight for herself later on? Sure he knows more with what to expect and how life threatening the battle field can be, but she has gone out of her way to try and prove herself so much that she is capable to some capacity. She actually has been very useful to others in regards to healing and makes a difference in places that ask for her help. The only one that keeps shooting her down is Riftan. There is never a scene that stands out where he tries to explain from a loving and caring perspective to her why it bothers him, just that she needs to listen. She might not be doing it the smartest way but if she has few options because the oh so big man Riftan takes them away she is gonna be reckless because she is so inexperienced. I just don't think people call out his attitude as much as hers when it's way more understandable to me from her perspective why she tries so hard. It's unfair to him because she doesn't open up why she feels so strongly because of her past but he also doesn't try to understand her. Just gets angry and it shuts her down.

I just don't get the hate for the FL, she is literally not doing anything too different from other FL in similar stories. Literally her whole motivation was to be happy after figuring out she was dying and there was a contract made between the both of them this would end in 3 months that the ML sounded like had never any intention of following through with unknown to her. No hate on him just pointing that out. She did end up leading him on because at the point if they are saying I love you she should have thought to talk to him again to make sure the deal is on but what was nice she did acknowledge how much she messed up later and was genuinely remorseful. I think even if this whole story was reversed with the ML going through all this I wouldn't have felt much different because we would have heard his motivation the whole time. This was just a decent read for me, I didn't love it but I liked the story enough. Just doesn't make sense why the FL is so unlikable to people

I can get and won't disagree per say with comments that talk about riftan having the right to be angry and cold to her because she is so inexperienced and it's dangerous. I do think the moment he decides to agree she can come is when the argument should have been over and that's when he gets annoying for me. He doesn't have to treat her super sweet or anything because he is the commander and she is under his command as the magician but treating her like she is so incapable of doing the job she fought to have and not giving the chance with at least some support irks me. She proved so much to those around her she is willing to grow and she can learn to do her job and be good and useful and he because he refuses to see it out of "worry" makes me dislike him since it doesn't seem like he is seeing her as the person she is becoming and trying to be and instead has the image of a frail person who onlys needs support and can't support him. That's not a partnership imo and frankly it makes me feel weird he has such intense feelings about keeping her in a bubble that's safe after she has voiced over and over about wanting to leave. She isn't a child but an adult and that makes me feel weird. She is constantly changing in front of him and he doesn't acknowledge it all, but whatever rant done lol

A person can be both bad and pitiful. She was someone with no support system after losing everything and no breaks to truly grieve before she was thrust into the position of a guardian role. It would take a lot of compassion and breaking down someone's walls like that to get an idea of the reason behind their actions but I think it would be normal for the people who have no relation or context to get mad first seeing a child being neglected. You would be too biased in the moment to listen for a reason because you see the neglect in front of you. It's just a sad situation honestly where Luca wrongly got the brunt of all the adults emotions

I have already gone back and forth on the "morals" of the fanfiction piece in general but I just want my two cents out now that my thoughts are collected. Does this piece contain rape? Yes it does, several times. Many times Dan is overpowered by brute force alone even when he asked to stop. His grandma was in an emergency at the hospital but he still was forced to have sex which is blatantly rape because he did not want to continue at that time. Aren't they in a contractual relationship where he agreed to provide sex? Yes they are and there is no problem with that ALONE. The problem is the seme abusing that for his own satisfaction without the mental and physical care for his sexual partner. Paying for his services does not mean he is entitled to whatever he wants with his body.
