Hey, the original Veronica was an absolute piece of work. So him tormenting the FL at first was normal (since he didn't know she was a different person). And in the original timeline, they had no relationship--she was just stupidly loyal to a family he had good reason to hate, and he had leverage against her.
At this point in the current timeline, he's not romantically interested in her at all. He's still in the poke-her-for-answers stage regarding her true identity.
