With normal descension, the god can still survive after having their avatar killed. They can just return to their realm and recover through time and faith from their worshipers.
But with this descension, there is no avatar. Divinity is made flesh and manifested by the god's own will. Thus if they are struck down in this form, they will truly die. (⊙…⊙ )
