If I have to translate it myself it'd be something like "It was a world that I'm used to yet unfamiliar with, I know yet don't understand" he was saying it that before as a bl author that's how he felt about man liking man, he just wrote it without actually experiencing it, but now that he's actually in that world himself still doesn't feel real.
