San lang has probably been brainwashed by that man backing up Lady Lyn, because there’s no way she murdered a concubine and swears she’s innocent, to the point that if we hadn’t seen her entire scheme, we’d also think she was innocent. And swears she’s doing it all for the sake of lady Lynn.
Lady Lynn herself isn’t bad, but she’s so naive that sometimes I wonder if she just chooses to overlook things she can stop, therefore letting the cause problems. Like all her maids are so out of order.

There’s nothing wrong with the art per se, it’s just they made him look/feel more younger and teenager-ish in these new chapters.
Check chapter 100, he felt and looked more grown and actually acted like an emperor in that chapter and the following ones.
But like you said, maybe they were just trying to express he innocent feelings for the empress through the art.

They are so cute and their dynamic is good so far, but am I the only one thinking there are some dots missing? Like some things just aren’t connecting, like the random and sudden “I’ll kiss you if you get a question wrong” on literally their second day meeting. Maybe it’s just the pacing.
And the way they converse is also kinda odd, like no one really speaks like that other than that, this is a good story.

for me, it seems like the year POTN was released, the standard for tops or yaoi mls are those problematic (but hot) ones. a lot of manga/manhwa released around 2020-2019 and below has high ratings despite the tops being trash (trash = lots of sex scenes)

I think potn plot was overall, it had a better story and the art was actually good so it was easier for people to excuse and overlook the rape and why Nakyum is putting up with it all. Also it became popular during quarantine and thats when a lot of people got introduced to this site and many people were new to bl/yaoi and didn't have high enough standards for the genre.
I can relate lol I haven't stopped reading this but I read after 3-4 months, all the new chapters together. It's definitely not something that I'd wait for each week. With that being said I'd love to read some of your favourite webtoons so if you don't mind please suggest me some.
Your points are all valid. For me tho I think it’s because there was actually more depth and plot to the characters. Seungho was a mad man yes, but you could tell there was so much more to him and a lot going on in his head even if it was deranged. He didn’t treat nakyum like shit then suddenly realized he’s in love when nakyum ran away. He wasn’t like “oh no, I love nakyum” nope that didn’t happen because that isn’t realistic.
Instead we’re given a side of him that shows that not even he understands his feelings and what love is. It wasn’t just him being toxic just to be.
But when it comes to jinx it’s just paper thin depth, paper thin personalities. Over used and recycled plot. Basically lazy writing in the making. And I bet you the author would also pull the “jk was abused by his peers and father, as a child that’s why he’s like that.” His mother probably passed away when he was young. Because it’s an easy buy out and an easy excuse for an author.
I think the problem isn’t what the author is writing, but how they are writing it. They aren’t trying to make the cliche different in their own style or any any more depth than “Jk is abusive and the Dan is a simp and a wimp”

I find it crazy that people romanticise abusive behavior towards their relationship, just like Dan and Jaekyung's, Dan is basically just a play thing but like maybe in future chapters it would go like "omg im inlove with Dan" like no, if mingwa write it like that its basically just a copy of BJ Alex but even far more worse.
POTN was also abusive and as far from the starting chapters, i definitely hated Seungho and no further excuses for his behavior. As for Jinx, its just straight up all toxicity. No excuses needed and i will still hate Jaekyung.
Past are what creates a character or a person themself to their personality into the future or present. But to all abusive acts towards their partner or a person that's close to them, they cant make any further excuse just because of their past or what happend to them. Though im not trying to invalidate someones trauma but it doesnt excuse on how or why you will act like that to someone.

I think it might also be because in POTN, the seme was redeeming himself quicker than in Jinx. In POTN we were already seeing growth and development in his character in a way shorter period of time. In Jinx, he is still as horrible as he was at the beginning of the webtoon and hasn't grown at all. It's getting tiring and he's gonna have a lot more redeeming to do than in POTN.
