The biggest problem of yaoi fandom is the way it normalizes and romanticizes rape and sexual assault. Looking at it almost every other popular yaoi romanticized rape/sexual assault somehow.Most people in yaoi fandom are kinda accustomed to it because how common it is and it’s honestly disgusting. I think you should try to make your friend understand why her mindset is disgusting. There’s also a lot of slutshaming for the bottoms in yaoi but when the top is doing the same thing he is just a playboy sleeping around. Talk about pushing heteronormative ideas even on gay relationships.

The way some straight ppl view gay relationship is disgusting.
In some stories, when the seme done fuck up things to the uke,, uke forgave easily. For eg, in 'if u hate me that much' the seme literally rape uke cause of a misunderstanding. Not sure if the uke forgive him right away but they did end up together.
Maybe stories like this made some ppl to normalize sexual assault/r*pe.

I have read that story. That was so fucked up. I remember one scene where Hyengjo raped Minjae but the author was like look on the bright side, he brought lubes. Fuck no. Fargo doesn’t have any idea how to create proper romantic relationships but her stories sell because apparently her art is nice. Tbh your friend is straight up fetishizing gay relationsships. I feel like you should dump her at this point.

I have very few friends whom I can talk about BL so I just gently nudge them that those are wrong things to attribute BL with, I don't tell them how they're outright wrong but I calmly explain that it still wasn't consented.
