Why is the story trying so hard to villainize the ex like, he is right. In any other better written story he'd have been a positive influence to the mc but here it's framed like he's Satan incarnate for daring to think that JK is and asshole (which is true) and would throw Dan away in a heartbeat (which is also not a wrong assumption to make given JK's track record) but oh no he is so much worse than JK for daring to leech off of him.... a rich pro wrestler who got everything and doesn't gaf abt being leeched off of anyways...?

And Dan falling in love with huge asshole JK makes no sense (from a writing standpoint in a manhwa that claims to have romantic components) because they only had a slither of romantic tension and almost all their encounters were forced sexual ones
Now if this were a psychological story it would make way more sense for him to "fall in love" with huge gaping asshole JK because it could be him mistaking this feeling of love with the fact that he is basically the only person who showed him common decency but otherwise is a huge abusive gaping asshole to him and he fails to rationalize that.

Dan fell for him because Jaekyung was the only one to remove from his hell.. even though Jaekyung is toxic and also gives him, in Dan's mind Jaekyungs hell is better and kinder than the one he had with those loan sharks.

I’d like to add to the first reply, too. To flesh it out I suppose, for my own clarity as well.
I think in Dan’s pov, Jaekyung eased the financial burden on him -when his debt to the loan sharks was paid off and most of the terms in work contract with Jaekyung. Although Jaekyung could have been Dan’s star of misfortune, he was also welcomed charcoal in the snow. The stress he has to deal with related to finances is at least somewhat dealt with and has shifted to other factors (how he could be professional in treating mr joo, how he’s catching feelings with Joo,etc).
Dan’s timid and wants to repay his debt to Jaekyung so he probs thought that even though he doesn’t like it, he sees it as a compromise (his body, having sex) after what Jaekyung has done. Besides the salary, didn’t Dan mention that he gets harassed at work, too? Wherever he works at least, so in that regard, doesn’t make a difference working with Joo-just rather extreme since it’s like sex on call.
Oh, brownie points for Jaekyung when he got under the good graces of Dan’s granny. “Sweet” and “kind” to describe Jaekyung made me spit out my water. So perhaps because of Jaekyung’s attitude toward his granny, and for making the latter happy, it also justified or made enough reason for Dan to just stay with Joo.
And perhaps Dan is the type to eventually fall for someone through his body, after doing it with Jaekyung multiple times, not surprised he caught feelings, although it makes you want to facepalm if not hit yourself if he was being for real.
