Warning! Rant ahead!
24 chapters in and the prince gives me hives. The MC is NOT particularly politically savvy but I'll give her a pass considering. The only thing that really bugged me about her decision-making so far was the fact that she doesn't realize what leverage she has as a lord of a border territory with a weak royal family and the possibility of blackmailing them with potential rebellion or at least forming alliances with the anti-walker faction. Also, where the hell is the Father? How is he okay with the fact that the tensions in his family have spilled into imperial politics, which in the worst case can lead to civil war? Like what does he even do? What connections do the Walker family have that the King is lusting after? Economic, military, political? All of them? What is it?

While this story is by no means a good political story, it passes muster albeit with an excessive amount of altruism that NO good politician should have especially in the medieval era. But the overly rosy depiction of Nobelese Oblige works.

The prince however? OMG He makes me pull my hair out. How is someone so dedicated to duty on one hand so completely resigned to the 'wasting' of his kingdom? And has no ability to figure out the motivations of his associates beyond whatever narrow preconceived notions he has? And has no ability to find or cultivate talented subordinates? How exactly did he make the leap of logic that a tyrannical fiance becoming Queen would be good for his country? It left my head spinning. Just how is this pathetic robot man with no demonstrable talent even a semi-decent dutiful prince? He's so bland its painful. And that's not even to address the little forgotten hint that the MC was full on planning a rebellion to secede from the kingdom. Which also begs the question, how the hell has the country not faced any law and order problems yet with growing discontent? SMH. I know this is not meant to be a political plot execution but if you're going to introduce complex worldbuilding, do it well!

Edit: Wow! The Father is a PoS too! That explains so much. Why am I even surprised at this point? That seems to be the cliche trope. Sigh.
