I have to say the artwork was one of a kind, this was extremely heart wrenching, i can’t believe it’s already over! I am extremely grateful I got to experience such beauty, I even let out a few tears. This was a masterpiece, I’m sure a lot of us are able to relate to the author’s struggles. Thank you author-san for bringing this beautiful meaning of a book to life.

Honestly, I really don't like Chase and Joel's "realationship", he was barely there for Jesse growing up when he needed that father figure to develop and right when he starts feeling remorseful Chase with his goddamn rice cakes comes first. I understand Chase was neglected and alone but him only chasing after Joel's approval and just helping Jesse so Joel will like him irks me, Chase only wants to appear helpful to Joel not because he is genuinely interested in helping Jesse at all. I don't care about the age gap as long as Chase is over 18, if Chase is 17 it is then illegal.

The dad couldnt help that the mom never told him he had a son. I think he tried his best to be there for his kid in his own way. Parenting is a learning experience. Takes time to be good at it. And honestly I'm happy chase is there. The dad is sad and chase is sad. If they weren't there for each other I'm pretty sure they both would be hurting in different ways. I just wish someone would tell chase that he is Jesse's dad(￣∇￣")
Didn’t you read the panel where he told the kid he ruined his life? He sucked. Finally he’s trying to make up for his assholery but that doesn’t mean a relationship with chase is justified in the least
Although I understand your feeling but no one was born being a good parent.. he regrets not being there for him so he is making up lost Time he might not be able to say it through words well but his actions proves other wise.. and the friend really is there for them not just for the relationship if he really nothing to d ok with Jesse he wouldnt be doing his chores or even cooking for him and even helping his bf with his homework not to mention tolerating him with his bad behavior.. for now the father sees chase as a kid nothing more but as soon as he is an adult chase has the right to know who he wants in life regardless of what other think of him
That's why I am saying no one is born a good parent. If you see these chapters it shows how much he has grown and tried to be a father figure. At least he was able to instill some good habits into a rebellious son who lost a mother. Hes trying.
There are many people despite their circumstances that are great parents from the get go. Also I’m NOT saying he’s not trying. I don’t get why you’re trying to use that to justify a weird relationship. Him trying to be a better parent does NOT make the chase thing right in my eyes. Chase is a kid himself.
I feel like Joel thinks of chase as a replacement for his son because he feels like he couldn’t do anything for him back then. So instead of taking time to pay attention to Jesse, he’s using it to pay attention to chase this time. I don’t think Joel thinks of chase as a romantic interest, more like a little brother, but I might be wrong. Chase could just get disinterested in Joel when he finds out he’s jesses dad tho so idk? Feel like chase is the only one in love with Joel and he’s kind of just going along wit it.
They havent done anything though. At this point in time it's just a kid that has a crush on a grown up. That happens all the time regardless of age or sex. It's a normal thing. The dad literally only sees him as a kid. Nothing else. But as a kid who only has a grandma chase started to like him because he is nice. That is a plot that's very over used so idk what is so wrong with liking someone.

You and I know VERY well where this plot is going. The author is setting up so that something does develop between them. And that’s their prerogative as author but I’m grossed out by it. Because Chase is a child with no parents. I hope you’re right in that Joel remains as a father figure in Chase’s life but as I said, we know where this is going. And sure a crushy crush is cool and all but Chase is very sexual towards Joel and it bothers me that Joel is “ignorant” and lets it happen
I don’t get what you mean by JOEL’s weird relationship to Chase. There was no mention in the manga that Joel is attracted to Chase the SAME way Chase is attracted to Joel. Isn’t it that Joel only likes Chase because he thinks he’s a good kid and would be a god influence to Jesse. If anything, at the moment, romance is only one sided in Chase’s case.
I am talking about what the author is trying to create (a weird romantic relationship between those two). Why are you so confused by what I am saying? It's very clear. I HOPE it stays with Joel as a father figure to all of them but who knows. I am not familiar with the author's past manhuas so this could go into the predictable strange pedo-ish route. Or stay as a funny and warm story of some teens plus a dad that's trying to do his best to make up for his past by being there for them.
