Uh, why is he a fluffball? I don't see that Hayashida actually likes Shuuna, AT ALL. I mean, seriously, he doesn't care that Shuuna is going to be gone for two years yet somehow he loves Shuuna? Yeah, right.
Hayashida was never the one to show his true feelings, so we don't actually know how he feels or what he thinks about Shuuna's transfer. He obviously loves him cause like they said, he'd rather hurt himself than Shuuna. Plus he's apologizing instead of getting angry and he's trying to calm Shuuna down first and foremost while he bleeds out.

I agree. Kan-chan was thinking about shuuna in his own way. He was thinking about calling shuuna more even though he's bad with phone calls. I don't think it's fair to say he doesn't care about the transfer because he's looking to the future when they can be together and how to get there instead of complaining and whining about things that can't be helped.

After reading your observation and thinking back on the name "Nagata", I agree with your suspected characters both being Nagata. Because to me "Naga" in "Nagata" refers to "Nagae" and the "ta" refers to "Taniguchi". I guess thats just simple thinking, but before reading your comment the hints made me suspect the wrong guy "Kobayashi " thinking there's only one "Nagata" when there was actually two ╮(￣▽￣)╭
