I think it's nice that you look at it that way. But for asians, at least in the country I'm from, I'm not going to speak for other countries and cultures, it's looked down upon. Not going in the general direction of finishing college, having a career, and then having a child and family, is deemed bad. It means you've basically ruined your shot at success. Though it is better to go that route, I personally don't think it's the end if you don't. So I kinda get why he'd think that way. It's really sad. And he's keeping all of those thoughts to himself
