seryeon would've been a good character if she wasn't abusive. seriously i could understand her crash out, i mean imagine loving someone and they just cheated on you and treats you like some sponsor. but she could've just ended everything and not went abusive rapist.
hyunwoo is the one i feel sad the most. like he was just a cutie little baby and then saw a disgusting scene. like that would've broken someone too. and not having to know genuine love as you grow up kinda makes a person go cray-cray. AND LIKE THE FACT THAT HE JUST WANTED FOR EVERYTHING TO GO BACK TO "NORMAL" AT FIRST BUT THEN HE LEARNED HIS DAD WASN'T EVEN HIS BIOLOGICAL DAD. he was already mentally unstable, be became more unstable.
SUNGHOON WAS THE WORST OF THEM ALL. but he wasn't THAT BAD. he was just a DREAMER. like the music industry can never be survived even if you have the talent and passion. money still plays a big role. so i think i can understand why in the end he used seryeon for her money. ALL HE WANTED WAS TO BECOME A PIANIST. and the fact his parents killed themselves in his home LIKE THAT WAS DEVASTATING. and IT SHOWED JUST HOW POOR HE WAS. like the basement apartment. it was a good symbolism. and the moment seryeon offered marriage, he saw that as an escape and thought he can use it to reach his dream. BUT EVERYTHING WAS FUCKED UP FROM THE BEGINNING. also the author said that in the AU, it showed sunghoon's real personality, it means that he was really just chasing his dreams, and will use everything necessary to reach it. BUT DEEP INSIDE HE'S ACTUALLY A LOVING AND CARING PERSON. just like how he treated hyunwoo when he was younger
You summarize it so well Like, they're all extremely hateable characters, but they have legitimate reasons for being how they are, and it's impossible to just mindlessly hate them, so we end up mourning the "if only"s. The actor AU really was a band-aid on that scar of a main story. Despite his absolute trashiness, Sunghoon was one of the characters I felt the sorriest for, and the AU gave me more reasons why.
