I feel like MC makes things unnecessary complicated. Is it really necessary to go for help to the one guy you 100% know is a bad guy?! And the reasoning to do that seems weak.
I love it . It is such a beautiful and heartfelt story.

If there isn't a magical explanation for why MC is so unbothered with he whole shackle situation I might drop this. No matter how innocent or naive you are, you should be able to understand that being shackle (without your consent ) is unacceptable.
