On February 14, I’m turning 21 OFFICIALLY. I thought I’d be more excited about this whole adult thing, honestly. Honestly though, I just feel kinda meh about it now that it’s happening. Drinking? I’ve done that for a while now, and it feels less fun now that there isn’t a “danger” associated to it. Having my own space or whatnot? I have my own apartment complex that my parents pay for. Besides, in this economy AND political climate, I’d like to stay with my parents for as long as I could, but the option is always there. Schooling won’t even last too long, I’m set on graduating this year if I keep up my academic vigor. Like, I was so excited to turn “legal” or whatever. Is there anything else I can look forward to? I want to enjoy my 20s but I feel like I’ve been doing so many things to prepare for them that I don’t know how to enjoy it. I feel like heading straight to working some corporate job instead of this clandestine lifestyle everyone raves about, like that’s just the routine I’m supposed to follow.
that's a good thing to hear and advanced happy birthday! the good thing about adulthood is that there is no end all be all when it comes to structure. You are now free to make your own choices, map out your own path based on your opportunities. This is something to look forward to. If you want, you don't need to follow the same routine as everyone else. And depending on how you look at it, you are also going to be held accountable for such choices. You are now responsible for yourself.
Give yourself a congrats and allow yourself to feel grateful for everything you have and are doing/can do. Stay positive and you can look forward to the future you'll be building! Fruit of your labor yup
