Ok like 5 things. SUPER LOOONG list;; Im not bashing I jus wanna try explaining why Sylvia might acting so difficult.

At first I thought she was suffering from Stockholm Syndrome since she kept saying she wanted to return to her masters or whatevs. The guy called her "one of their best healers" and was uber pissed she disappeared. Maybe because she was so good at her job (as a healer; slave) that the Slave Masters were a bit lenient with whatever she did; or at least treated her better than the other slaves. Her life as a slave sucked, but it was manageable (until Drago Boi appeared & she was disappearing for hours on end; making ppl think she was gonna runaway). ALSO pls remember she was a slave for YEARS. That can mess people up and I have read about how some slaves do return because they were terrified of the consequences. I don't care if it was a week, 2 months, 4 years; either way that amount of time can mess people's psyche. She is not dumb. That instinct could have been trained into her FROM ALL THE TORTURE SHE ENDURED. She might just think that going back willingly instead of forcefully (being captured) would make her punishment easier (i.e. torture instead of death). This kinda stuff can HAPPEN in slavery bc they are HUMAN beings and hav irrational doubts/fears like others;;

Second, her husband is an utter douche bag. HOWEVER pls keep in mind that he was nice, treated Sylvia with respect, and the two had a happy marriage AT FIRST. It wasn't until he found out that she couldn't have children that he just;; lost all his respect for her (ch.8). He blamed her for that. He blamed her for ruining the entire relationship. She couldn't fulfill his dreams of a 'happy family' and that accusation DID create a horribly traumatic experiences for her. His words made her feel like love is impossible. Added with her slave master and gambling father (who also seemed nice at first)...it kinda makes all men near Sylvia look shitty at second glance tbh. She doubts she can have a healthy relationship after all she has been through

Third, ok yea she was kidnapped. Yes, she seemed happy sometimes but she was kidnapped. I get that Keil was only trying to make her feel better, but she doesn't know that. She felt trapped bc 24/7 there was a giant red dragon in the cave with her and the language barrier makes communication 1000x more difficult. I'm also kinda pissed he put the ring on her. Like not hand it to her as a choice she can make, no he had to slide it up her finger (basically another slave mark in my opinion). If you wanna make a ex-slave girl your GF, at least try letting her make decisions (i.e. wearing the ring)?? Makes the process easier. ALSO, he is being overly nice with her. Idk but feel like Sylvia is associating Keil's actions with her ex-husbands. Im wondering what will happen if Keil finds out she can't have kids (or that she has difficulty bearing children?). Will it be the same affection or will it change?? Keil might be trying to be nice but he is forcing a lot of stuff on her. (i.e. running away from her masters after she was just punished for disappearing so much, living in a cave, THE RING, flying to the unknown....to enter another fckn cave...etc). Keil also dsnt act very princely? He stole stuff, he lives in the wilderness, and cant exactly explain he's a prince to Sylvia lmfao)

Fourth!! I was surprised she got out the cave and was all "I'm free!". She honestly thought she was free for those few seconds. And I'm happy to see her not joking about 'maybe I can buy my freedom' or 'maybe I should return. Nah, Sylvia felt FREE for those few moments. She had doubts about Keil but clearly she needed some time to think (and not in another fckn cave). Keil flew her far away from the slave cabin, so instead of returning she was al might as well have freedom instead (woohoo). Yeah im pissed the hunters found her so soon.

Fifth!! Ok this is more of a side note. I think Sylvia knows some stuff about the forests. I mean, she found Keil bleeding and unconscious in the middle of the woods, not on the damn main road. She is NOT an expert, but she could know which directions she should take to reach civilization. Additionally, she was a healer remember? She knows plants and herbs!! She fckn knew what (nonlethal) flower would make Keil fall unconscious so she can be free! When she was with Keil in the caves, she thought she was being trapped by a FUCKING DRAGON. Ofc she wasn't gonna show off her healer skills.

Thanks for reading this giant mess. This is why I think Sylvia is acting so irrationally. She has bad exp w/men, she is an ex-slave, and Keil is low-key making her feel trapped since there is a language barrier between them + etc. She needs freedom, time to think, and maybe a choice? I love this story and hope to see those hunters killed thnx.
