From their perspective, a rude/standoffish upstart pulls up making demands and getting special treatment from the coach and one of the oldest players. They cant really say or do anything cuz the uke is better than them and the coach won't do shit. Which causes them to build up resentment. Then he immediately changes his tune once a negative article about him pops up, making him seem fake AF and whatever goodwill he's trying to garner seem disingenuous.
They don't know him, they don't know his past experience with his highschool team, but that's also cuz this guy would only talk to the seme. Even the seme didn't like him until they spent a lot more time together and the seme only tried because he was ordered to and trying to stay on the team.
I mostly blame the coach and seme. The coach for the obvious favoritism and delegating the integration of the uke into the team to the seme and the seme for being too blinded by the romance/trying to stay on the team to see what was going on with the rest of the team. The uke mostly gets a pass for being fresh out of highschool.
