What I love about this story is its character dynamics, refreshing events, and most importantly the witty dialogue! I enjoyed reading this BL so much I couldn't stop laughing almost every chapter. Despite the story being quite simple, I think what propelled my desire to keep reading for so long was how the characters talked and unique events. It just sounded so natural yet funny. The old panel formatting evokes nostalgia and honestly dare I say is it probably better than today's manwha/BL panel formatting. It's quite flexible and fits more dialogue IMO. Also not to mention the spicy scenes were quite refreshing and steamy!
As for the characters, I find it nice that Iliyan has flaws (quite many at that) and a character development too. Although I found him quite likeable from beginning to end, there were times when his personality would get 'annoying', as in... Kyle would have to clean up after his messes and just do everything in general to progress the plot. Don't get me wrong, Iliyan's a boss ass bitch but I would've preferred if he hadn't been so whiny and instead actually did something. Also, his dad's a prick obviously.
Abruptly cutting off, on the topic of Kyle Hackman... HE'S SCRUMPTIOUS. Quite the guy and love him to bits. Since I already stated a few things about him earlier, I just wonder if it was necessary for an arc in the later half to be about whether he loved Iliyan or not. I actually found it pretty unnecessary, or rather it was just odd how Kyle took so long to finally say he loved Iliyan, even when given the reason. To me, their relationship was such a back and forth caused by Iliyan being so clingy and Kyle trying to relieve Iliyan's insecurities. Also, the hospital scene in particular had left a bitter taste in my mouth but we chill Ig. Songbird side-story tho
Now onto the villain, James Brown! I was intrigued to know what he had to offer as the story's antagonist, and honestly, what I got in the end was a lukewarm bowl of oatmeal. His antics in the beginning were quite harsh and I actually wanted to know how he would impact the story. Unfortunately, it didn't deliver much and his downfall was pretty unsatisfactory since the main characters didn't struggle that much. All in all, the focus was mainly Iliyan and Kyle, with James as the side dish.
And Chris! Did the author forget him towards the main story's end? :,D this guy was adorable but I can't help but internally scream that he was merely treated as a plot device. He disappeared like my dad and almost got forgotten... my guy got tossed as a side character while two new recent ones (Gale and Robin) received a whole side-story dedicated to them! Not to mention, I can't believe he actually thought he was still in the wrong when he did (almost) nothing wrong! Justice for my boy!
Anyway, since it's getting lengthy, another gripe I have towards the end is how Iliyan magically becomes liked by everyone. There was honestly no reason for the public to suddenly like him and in fact, I felt like Medina switched kinda fast. Basically, whatever the public had against Iliyan, the story would do an asspull from thin air. The characters didn't have to fight hard to get what they wanted.
That's pretty much everything important I wanted to say, hopefully (I want to say more). Despite pointing out the clear weaknesses the story had, I love the story. It's one of my favourites and it's a shame I'm not coming back to it anymore (at least not in the future).
Thanks for reading my review :D
Honestly pretty underwhelming to read since there was potential to play around with the supernatural aspect of sharing mutual hallucinations... a lot of the horror elements only showed up once in a while and were pretty lukewarm. Characters and conflict were also meh and I wish I could find something good to say about this story since it sounds like I'm being nitpicky but it was alright :,D
Thought this had already ended but it's still has a few more chapters to go... so I won't be able to write a review, but so far here are my thoughts:
Myeong's inner monologues, character development and interactions with other characters are very interesting to read. While the narration is pretty tell-y instead of show-y, I still enjoy the story regardless. Although I believe right towards the end, it feels a bit rushed. I can't exactly say much since this hasn't ended yet but Yuhan's death and the epic reveal of the company's ultimate collapse didn't bring much impact. Either I had read way too fast to really process everything, there wasn't much reason to really care for some of the characters, or too much info-dumping to feel like a genuine reveal.
Anyway, looking forward to the ending :>
