From what I see, the director is just a hardworking guy who persuades to success, perfectionism about his job and passionate about his job. There might be more but so far I only see him being excited because how talented Yori was. That's normal, u don't find this helpful colleagues this often in real life.
(But again, let's be real, he wanted to be helpful but he is definitely expressing it wrong, like...Yori is fortunately a strong person...if not- his mental health may went really wrong because all the criticism he got...)
The only thing I see that makes me uncomfortable is that director definitely stepped over the line by telling Yori's partner to leave him behind. It's not professional and definitely not his business! But people- what I want to say is: if people shows affection it doesn't have to be - sexually or romantically, it can just be admiring/colleagues/friendships or brotherly affection...
