Just because he’s not as bad means he shouldn’t be punished? You can compare murder and attempted murder and they’d both be bad. Neglect and verbal abuse is what he is responsible for. Just because someone regrets something doesn’t mean they should be let off the hook for it.

LMAO when did i every say that? look at my last line. “people should not hate on him too much.” the reason for that is that he's actually trying to be a better person. if character development is not the best thing that the character could have then i don't know what is.

Character development after 10 years of neglect doesn’t take away from the 10 years of neglect

istg, do you just not see my point here? i'm not trying to justify his actions or whatsoever so why do you keep bringing up his past mistakes? the point of a character development is that the character would be actually be better than they were before. no loopholes, no justifications, just the character trying to make amends.

Actually what the author was trying to show in the past chapters was that he wasn't aware of how people treated her. Hence, his treatment towards her. Like, is that a valid reason?? only he gets to degrade the fl? Tf?That he "actually" liked her. Wth. We're not tryna invalidate his change. What we're saying is that he deserves the hate. That no matter how much he changes, that doesn't make the fact that he ruined another person disappear. You're the one who's not getting our point here.

he was shitty as fck, but unlike other characters out there, he is someone who is actually thrives to be a better person and not misplace his negative emotion somewhere else! that's honestly such a breathe of fresh air since it's not everyday you get to encounter a well-written character like that.

valer has so much potential to grow as character and many people are not seeing that simply because he's portrayed as what he was on the first chapters.

it's still considered as a character development. baby steps. you can't honestly expect him to be better than he was before with just these chapters? a character development is a long and steady process, you can't just rush it. and that fact alone is what makes it interesting.

My point is that this 180 he’s doing was only triggered by her not loving him anymore and leaving. And instead of just admitting that it was because he’s a shitty husband and just not a good person for treating her like garbage, he has to use the way others treated her to be like “oh no... so this is why she was having a hard time.” Like??? Yeah, but also YOU gave her a hard time for NO REASON at all. Not to mention his behavior towards her and the fact that he neglected her was well known, so that escalated the treatment she got from others and the slander.

You’re obviously free to disagree, but he is not a well written character to me. He comes off as a textbook selfish ex who didn’t realize what he had until it wasn’t groveling at his feet anymore.

ah, yes. i get you, don't worry. but i believe with just this amount of chapters, i can see how it could look like that. i guess we just have to wait and see. just like i said, a character development (a good one), is a long, steady process.

him regretting his actions doesnt justify his neglect to neveah. even if he didn't know that she was being mistreated, it's not an excuse to treat her that way. its common sense to treat someone decently though you don't even like them. neveah didn't do anything bad to him either and he only regretted shit when she fell out of love

I agree, I also thought that when they showed the mc's mom was the only one who ever managed to get Maria to spare somebody that Maria wanted to kill, and from the moment Maria said the only time she had ever liked her own son was when he seemed to have been the one to save Sierra (the mc's mom), and even more when she reproached her son for killing Sierra's son, which is unexpected given how she's just as psycho as her son and how her son doing that helped him the father's chosen heir and favorite, which in turn let herself get to have the most power out of all the man's wives... Even the mc trusts *Maria* with watching over her mom in her absence... so I really think Maria definitely "loves" Sierra, in her own twisted way.

I think maria loves sierra’s beauty and innocence. Since she’s twisted she wants make a mess out of sierra but at the same time doesn’t want sierra dead.
