To be honest I feel like he kinda deserved it considering that he knew the black haired dude was trying to usurp the throne and kinda just let him do whatever he wanted (ok I know he didn’t know black haired guy was gonna poison Claude again, but technically he was the one who brought the guy in even though he knew he was Claude’s older brother). I kinda just see it as karma. I feel bad for his kid though, like he kinda just screwed over the rest of his family as well by bringing black haired guy in, and they never even knew who he was
