During Leon’s origin where he wakes up it looks like he’s crawling out of the ground from possibly a crater, meaning he could’ve fallen. Obviously from looks he doesn’t look like he belongs and if there’s demons then angels wouldn’t be too far fetched so maybe a fallen angel?
Mephisto says “that’s right, your not like the rest of us. After all, your not even from dark fall” (dark fall could either be the particular land they live in or the demon land entirely) and then he says “let’s face it, your nothing like us. Everything is different from your appearance to your way of thinking.” Then he goes on to say there’s a species that mate for life and when they’re of the same gender on will transform their body to have children.
