Everyone talking about how selfish uke is but if I was in the same situation I wouldn't cut the string either, like, they're fated partners, they're destined to be happy so if you love them you would want the best for them .. idk anymore, so sad

I do agree that I wouldn't cute the string either. The lady seems really nice. However, Kamisawa mentioned before (i think in the main story) that a reason for cutting a red string is that one of the people in the relationship is abusive. So really, being connected by the red string doesn't guarantee your happiness. Plus, I don't think Hara would ever be happy if Kaoru suddenly left him cause of his string getting attached. I think if anything he would feel guilty and punish himself.

Agreed, but that's the logical answer, in emotional perspective I totally get uke. I mean, it is one thing to say "I want it to be cut no matter who" but it's totally another thing to meet your "destined" partner. Like what if when he found out he'd curious about her? Not that I believe seme would ever do that, but in uke's perspective, he wants be with him as long as possible and that option could lessen their time. He's understandably anxious, I think his behaviour is quite realistic really.

you would decide to trust something vague like "fate" and "destiny" instead of the very person's ishes? Going back on your word is not okay. And if you have doubts, at least come clean to your partner. He was asked and lied. Don't take this sort of important decisions for someone else. Be frank and say you don't wanna risk not making them happy because you're not confident if you're gonna be like that. This sort of dishonesty disguised as care for the others is seriously not something I look kindly upon.

Yeah but try and look at it from Hara's side. He had told Kaoru multiple times that no matter what--NO MATTER WHAT--if his string attached to let him know so that it could be cut immediately. From the beginning Hara didn't believe in anything like a fated person and even said that he didn't need someone like that. He loves Kaoru full-heartedly and for Kaoru to go back on his word is only going to make matters worse.
All in all he's just making things worse. If Hara didn't want to be with Kaoru for the rest of his life he wouldn't have made him swear to cut the string if it ever attached. His feelings for Kaoru were never that shallow and even forgave Kaoru after he vanished on him for all those months. He waited and desperately tried to find him. He's repaying Hara's patience and unconditional love with lies and breaking his promise to him. Kaoru is making a decision that was never his to make and Hara is going to pay the price for it.

This was how Hara felt exactly when Kaoru told him about the red string of fate that he's able to see and sever. It was the whole reason why Hara made him promise to let him know the instant it attached so he could have it cut. Kaoru is just being a coward and I know it'll work out in the end but he's really starting to piss me off. Hara has been patient, loving and understanding of everything Kaoru has done--and he's repaying all that by lying and breaking one of the most important promises they had made each other.

It makes sense not to tell Hara from my point of view. He already knows how the red string works and so telling him would mean he would be aware of what "destiny" is making him think and just to contradict it he would think otherwise of that woman. By not telling him Kaoru just makes sure their feelings stay real and not affected by what destiny has planned. If at some point they are not in love anymore it would be only due to their feelings and Hara would have his detined partner to be happy. Kaoru had no intention of backing up once he knew that Hara's red string was connected, he was enjoying as much as possible his time with Hara.
So yeah my opinion is still by the uke's side, even after reading all those comments about breaking a promise.

Alright well you can believe what you wanna believe but even Kaoru admitted to taking the coward's way out. Even he knew what he was doing was wrong. He's lucky Hara has the patience of a fucking saint 'cause this makes TWICE now that he betrayed his trust and feelings in a major way and the man STILL admitted that even if he didn't show up to the lobby that he woulda just tracked him down. Hara is a godsend partner and honestly I love Kaoru and I understand how he feels after having fate shoved in his face so many times but he literally had everyone and their mamas pushing him to stay with Hara 'cause they knew the man was genuine about his feelings. Hara was never lookin' for a quick fuck and always did his best to pamper and take care of Kaoru. He went through 6 agonizing months of searching and waiting for Kaoru to come back and even called him out on his lies when Kaoru tried to push him away again. It's not even about the promise or logic at this point but the fact that Hara went through so much shit for Kaoru and still chooses to put his utmost faith in the man. Most people would've left or been complete assholes about it but Hara chose to stay genuine and chose to still shower Kaoru with unconditional love. That man deserves an award and Kaoru really needs to work on becoming a better man for him. Periodt.
A very very open ending lol, would have loved to read more about this story so cute
