good question, possible answer would be the sea monsters have high lightning resistances maybe due to their scales and thick skins, and his lightning spells are still relatively weak compared to his fire spells with possession of little flame bell, iirc his lightning is still at the intermediate stage while his fire is in tjr advanced stage
or maybe doing that would hurt the fishes in the water? Or the other peaceful living creatures and the mages try not to you know cause mass destruction? I don't know how far magical Lightning in water can go but what it if could travel really far and hurt other people?

If she’s suffering from the problem that all her crushes fell in love with other guys, then wouldn’t there be a lot of girls suffering from the same problem? I mean if Octavia really wants to get a lover, and her family supports same sex relationships with males, then why can’t she find a female lover? And she even says the relationship would be fake so get a girl to pretend to be her lover while looking for an actual male one, and when they both find a real lover then they can break up.

What this person mean is Octavia having a hard time having crush on other guys cause they end up having a relationship with the same sex which is boyxboy. So doesn't that mean woman other than Octavia also experiencing the same thing as her cause most guys end up unavailable. Since same sex relationships were allowed anyway, octavia should consider finding a woman to be her fake lover as another option rather than focusing on finding guys. You actually have a good point, but after reading ch 5, I wonder if they would even accept her being with a woman (even if it's just a fake romance). In the early pages of ch 5, the king mentions that the FL is the treasure of the kingdom (see pages 5-6). The treasure is the one who will give birth to children that will become heir to the throne. The FL won't be able to get pregnant if she's involved with another woman, so I worry that the king would reject a (fake) female lover

Sure she could say that, but the question is if it would work.
