This was pretty good, but I feel like it was building up to something and then ended suddenly. You could say my perception is a bit skewed if I don't see Namsoo yeeting all the bullies AND the cops as a climax - but while the story definitely had a climax action-wise, there wasn't an emotional one like some sort of interaction between the MCs between that shit going down and the arrest/timeskip to the hospital. Several chapters of flashbacks right before the end certainly didn't help the pacing either.

(((SPOILERS FOR AN UNCOMFORTABLE TRUTH BELOW CAUSE I ALWAYS COMPARE THE SHIT I READ)))

While An Uncomfortable Truth and Save Me share many similarities, and I enjoyed both, there's a few vital points where the approach to plot diverged for better or worse. From the beginning of An Uncomfortable Truth, the reader knows that the MCs are brothers - just not adopted ones. This creates a unique dynamic (and paints the MC's actions in a certain light) from the beginning, which is further built upon by the backstory of adoption revealed throughout the manhwa. Now, Save Me is more mysterious: I could only assume that there was some sort of sociopathic fixation going on with the MCs, but why? You're left to wonder that until ALL OF THE BACKSTORY is thrown at you at once right before the end. Okay, cool, so that explains it... I guess. I'd like to have seen more of sociopathic-MC's story to deepen my bond with the character. Supposedly, his dad sat comatose in their house, depressed and starving (most of the time or all the time? We're left to guess, I mean shit dude, Namsoo somehow looks well off even if the house is janky) after the incident and a timeskip... so what did sociopathic-MC do to survive? Are they living off of insurance money? Does disabled-MC know about any of this at the end? Most likely, but we don't get to see any sort of reaction.
Anyway, back to the topic of conclusions: another point of divergence between An Uncomfortable Truth and Save Me. After doing some side shit with the side characters to stop his brother (and failing), Jaeha of AUT experiences a rather rude awakening from Yoseob and Truck-Kun. I'd say this (among other chapters), along with Yoseob's scenes in the psych ward, is the emotional AND action-al climax of the manhwa, and then the final chapters (falling action) tie up loose ends. As for the storytelling itself: An Uncomfortable Truth slaps you in the face, lets you cry a bit to let it out, and leaves. As for Save Me, as I mentioned earlier, the pacing becomes odd at the end. I was interested in the backstory, sure, but scrolling through became tiring after the tension that had built up beforehand. As for the story: Shit, I wish An Uncomfortable Truth could've ended so happily. But part of me knows that would weaken the lesson and impact it had on me. I'm not sure what Save Me is trying to SAY, you know?

You can apply the very last point to a lot of similar stories with different endings. Killing Stalking vs Warehouse, Save Me vs An Uncomfortable Truth, Orpheus and Eurydice’s happy vs sad ending. Happy endings CAN be satisfying and teach a lesson based on the tone and content of the entire story. When they’re a resolution that was worked towards. Think of the Truman Show. Iconic. Some lessons, however, are best told with sad or bittersweet endings. A dramatic shift of tone without catharsis leads to a muddled, unsure ending lacking a lesson.

Anyone know if the author & artist have social media? I’ve been searching for a bit with no results.

I can't find a community for this (or Good Night, See You In My Dreams) anywhere outside of this website. It's really disappointing because I was hoping to find more fanart :( It doesn't help that how generic the title is means that when I search for it on tumblr the results are mostly PSAs/callout posts LMAO

edit: searching for the tag (not just searching in general) an+uncomfortable+truth on tumblr brings up relevant content but it's still sadly lacking, guess I'll try pixiv?

This is definitely one of my favorite manga of all time (tip: you can easily find the official English translation by searching for a tumblr blog! It’s a much better experience.) But watching the end of The Good Place recently got me thinking: there is no ethical consumption under capitalism. Parasites eating random humans isn’t helping the environment: I mean, think of the pollution created by cremating their remains and organizing their funerals. Coming back to the folly that is ethical consumerism, the damage humans have done to the Earth isn’t the fault of you or me. It’s the fault of CEOs, politicians, the upper class, and corrupt governments. Perhaps the parasites should be eating those guys. I guess their environmental political party was trying to achieve something similar.

Aaa I don’t know if this is double posting but I headcanon Dance Gavin Dance as the sound of the band! Simon as Tilian Pearson or Kurt Travis, I’m not sure. But I always heard Young Robot and Uneasy Hearts Weigh The Most in my head while reading.
