I think what mostly not making sense about this story is when the emperor himself had to go kidnapping the princess when he could just order some knight to do so

I think he is the one who kidnapped her cause he is the one who saw her first. I mean all his knights were busy fighting. And he was literally just standing in the middle of the battlefield.
I mean in a sense where he doenst have to go there at all
I think emperors have to actually go with their troops whenever they attack other countries? Isnt that part of their job or am I missing something here?
