erina really died…for nothing..well, at least she indirectly contributed to the construction of alpheas magic academy. but still…..why did he even marry her, knowing that her mental capabilitiy is at 10 years old. ofc she needs to learn a lot. she regressed. and ofc she can’t fully give her consent. i’m still disappointed in him (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
I feel like yall are undermining Erinas will here lol. She clearly WANTED to do these things. She wasn’t pressured or forced. She wanted to make him happy, whatever that meant. And for Alfeas, that’s magic. It’s clearly explained after she’s able to communicate on a higher capacity during the trials
if she’s with alpheas since the ball, then alphea’s influence is very very very big on her. not sure how many years went by after their meeting at the ball (i forgot or it might not have been mentioned), but mentally, she’s still a teen or young adult even after marrying alpheas. it’s undeniable that she wanted to make him truly happy by sacrificing herself. that’s so selfless of her. but can we say she was in the right mind or at the appropriate age (mentally) to make that decision? i’m not sure about that. i’m saying that, alpheas in her eyes might not look like a husband only. he guided her, made her learn this and that, took care of her and everything. she’s heavily dependent on him. he’s her everything.
I feel like that would have been the case if the treatments weren’t working before ultimately ending her life. Because the note was reflecting back on periods she was in the lab, before the actual full run of the experiment. So I feel like — while she was gaining better cognitive function during the research period — her actions were more so done in a state where she could make such decisions consciously/with awareness. And she ultimately chose to sacrifice herself ++ mention all the good he can do for the world. I don’t think the latter would make sense if she only saw him in a “imprinted, elder figure, my entire world” way.
I think the ending was supposed to show that, even then, this is what she wanted. It’s not like children aren’t capable of having likes and dislikes lol. Or desires to be helpful. I’d agree that maybe she couldn’t fully appreciate the risks until later but to say she agreed with lack of full awareness would only make sense if she was like..fearful or something once the experiment started
the first 20 chapters of him and the duke was pretty much hard to read for me. that’s why I dropped this for a long time. I’m glad the duke softened up a bit but sometimes the scenes are just a bit too forceful..
