For those said that this is all Ripley fault, i dont think so, she never asked the duke to be Etoile fake bf. At first she told the duke why the reason she need Sir Wright to act as the fake bf, but the duke disagree and suggest such an extremes ways to deal with that stalker, thus why Ripley said that how good is it if Sir wright was there, knowing that he is sweet person and can easily agree with the plan, the upon hearing this, the duke out of no where getting irritated (jealous maybe) and insist he be the fake bf. So its not ripley who suggested the duke to be the fake bf. (And remember why she want Sir Wright to be the fake bf because she knew that they both kinda has feeling for each other)
But didn’t the duke ask if he should take sir wright place and then she answered yes? Or was it that he said “is that the type of guy you like” and she said yes or something like that. It was kind of stupid of her to say that, anyone would be kinda mad or sad at leats.
