Eclis betrayed her but only because he was brainwashed by fake dukes daughter who also turns out to be the evil witch lady who has been collecting artifacts. these artifacts contain the power to brainwash which she has been using on the targets of the game (the brothers a littile, but especially eclis who is now corrupted)
Also he locked her up to put her under surveillance so he can monitor as her behaviour could be unpredictable now that Vonn der Bitch is back; i.g Penny could hurt her
