After reading chapter 40 and some comments I am enlightened to think....
The ML is well liking the MC ... In his own way. Bad part is he wants to make sure that he still gets to be emperor and keep her as his wife, hence the idea of betrayal so that he could get legitimate approval from the Duke's family. This way it's also impossible for her to get away from him. Which is well, we can see how this will go ,,
This hits too close to home. When I visited relatives of ours and had an argument w/ a "cousin" of mine. Instead of finding out what happened, our aunt immediately sided w/ her not realizing my sibling and I were being outcast by her and our other so called "relatives", mainly due to language barrier. Stating we should all get along. Long story short, she is no longer my favorite aunt but just my "aunt". She became a stranger, and I never visited that province afterwards.

Holy guacamole! It was the ML wasn't it, he murdered the FL's brother. I mean he literally said to go hunting on the same date... Or probably a tragedy happened and the ML will just watch as he dies. This is getting on my nerves, what a cliffhanger!

Okay, so 6 chapters in and I think she isn't terminally ill. Based on the details provided "Mia" is being groomed to be Duchess while our FL is chosen "to give birth". If we are thinking correctly, then the Duke only wanted a noble birth free from defects (incest) since if you think about it, Mia and ML are somewhat blood related. It's either the Duke or Mia that will do something for her to die... But in the future, since FL was able to give birth successfully. It really doesn't matter for the Duke who will be ML's wife since the child needed was born. (￣∇￣")
