Warning: has Ch. 95 spoilers-
I think its kinda ironic how all phos ever wanted was to be stronger and more useful so that he could relieve everyone's suffering... But in the end, while phos did technically get what he wanted, it was completely at his own expense. He got used beyond belief and now that everyone ELSE is happy, phos is fucking miserable & living 10,000 yrs on earth all by himself. It will eventually end, but only After he prays everyone out of existence... talk abt a plot twist.

Would've liked to finish reading, but the way the author drew and wrote the black characters in this was just fucking depressing. I knew smth was up when i saw the jim crow lips, but when they added in the heavy slang... Lemme just say that if you're not gonna bother to disregard racist stereotypes when writing a character of another race, don't write abt them at all-

as a half-black half-vietnamese person, yeah it's hurtful but they don't have that much impact on the story; it was kind of a product of its time, being serialized in 2007 and all
if you dislike it that much, then skip the chapters featuring it, i had to stomach it all the way through myself. the manga is a masterpiece aside from a few concerning things, go give it another chance

Yea ik they arent in the story that often but regardless, after the second time, i just felt like i was torturing myself reading it. I've seen a lot of mangas with this same unnecessary depiction of black characters and after a while, it gets tiring to just "power through" racism over and over and over again. It just ends up making me feel like shit so id rather just avoid it all together. There's plenty of great mangas from earlier years that don't have those racist stereotypes, im just better off reading those- for mental health purposes.
Appreciate you offering your perspective though
The only villainess reincarnation story I've seen where the mc is actually self aware and genuinely misses her past life. All the other mcs swear they've been waiting for this moment their entire lives.
