Although, it's sick, we do enjoy seeing him punish criminals, in that sense, we're no better than the viewers. It would be interesting if he was caught, while he does punish criminals, he's still a serial killer. We have also no motive except for the fact that he likes to see his victims in despair, we have no flashbacks to his childhood nor on how he came to be the person he is today so I'm quite curious.
