I think it's not bad until you not point the gay ppl and say them real life yaoi (I mean reading yaoi is not bad but if you consider the gay couple as real life yaoi it's bad they are not your entertainment property simple ╮(￣▽￣)╭)
To be fair, most yaois written by straight female authors portray inaccurate or even toxic relationships (of course there are some BLs that are well-written and healthy) For example, the sex without proper preparation and lube is dangerous, or having strict roles of "top" and "bottom" outside of the bedroom which is very unrealistic. However, certain flaws like "no means yes" and other toxic behavior that we see aren't exclusive to BL, rather, they are a problem with a lot of romance comics in general.
As a side note, yeah I don't think anyone should say straight girls can't read BL because that honestly doesn't help anyone. The problem lies elsewhere.
I think the main probelm is how they are written because when they are written by female aouthors the story itself is writen for other female ppl to fetishize. Me being a gay man see no probelm in other non gay men reading BL as lon as you understand this is fiction and don´t go around shipping real ppl because thats just weird and makes everyone uncomftrebel. I aslo think this is a very important dissgussion to have.
