I think the flashback was him recognizing that the redhead asshole and director park are different, because director park wants to give him the world and asks him what he wants while The redhead asshole is selfish and only cared about what he wanted and never took Suha into consideration.
But that’s just what I think I’m not 100% on that.

the director cares for suha deeply and shows him that w every of his actions. He asks him what he wants and responds to that trying to fulfill his needs and maintain a healthy relationship. He encourages him to be open with him, speak his mind and not fear to overstep boundaries (see the situation when suha asked him about his lovelier and he answered him and told him he can ask whatever he wants to know) In comparison the flashback shows us the possessive and self centered red head who only took from suha, expected him to mold himself into the image he wanted and expected and never once cared for shuns opinion, his needs and wishes. He controlled him while the director encourages him to be himself (be bold, be curious, be free). That flashback was meant to highlight that contrast showing suha that the president is completely different from his brother (something he hadn't really realized up til now since a few chapters ago he compared these two)
