From what I know the king is suffering from curse and the nina was able to help because she is the reincarnation of the queen. In the beginning of the Kingdom the first king who is now current king made a mistake. The pope told the first king to sacrificea person in oder to save 99 other peoples. The king agreed but than found out that it was his Queen whom he loves so much that needs to be sacrificed. First the king didn’t wanted to do it but he sacrificed the queen by burning her. That's why thr current king is always in a burning pain and Nina is the only one that can soothe her. The current king and the first and all other got their powers from that first sacrifice but the queen cursed them that they will feel the pain that she felt. Also this current king and Nina is tge 99 reincarnation of the first king and queen. But in every life the king made the same mistakes and killed his lover. That is also shown in the original Nina's case. The king thought that thr saint was his true lover. They just killed her for the saint. And I think the person who was reading book at the headmaid's quater was the only person that truly remembers everything but he was helpless. Also I think he is related to Nina.

That person is Beno. I think I am sayingit right. Thay have a lot of side stories. Its getting hella confusing. I read that he is the actual pope and nina's brother. Its totally confusing. Only the manga can help now because I alreadyread multiple side stories of the novel.

so basically, ria asks dranste for help and stuff something like that, dranste will be like this is dangerous and might cause your life(?) and ria accepted. Ria went back in the past and she saw Caitel’s life when he was a kid.
