According to the flashbacks, Ashiya Sakae was a secret employee of the late Mononokean Master Aoi since the executive hates humans.
There are many proofs about that on the old file records and since Yahiko saw Sakae before while what Mononokean said so too. And we could also call the picture Hanae found as an another evidence of that, too.
But Sakae died, and however, begin to resurface within Hanae's body. He is lurking within him, as if possessing Hanae, Sakae saved and killed the demon for them when the two, Abeno and Hanae was in a pinch. ( But it appears to me like, he kinda seals himself in Hanae. ) Resurfacing when his son, Hanae was almost died.
Now connecting the pieces, it seems like Master Aoi and Sakae planned the meeting of the two. But the question is, what for? And why did the previous Master Aoi hired Sakae as a secret employee who meant to exorcised by killing ayakashi, if its against the law? WhAT EXACTLY IS THAT MISSION THAT ENDED UP BEING KILLED?
According to Mononokean, November 2, the day Sakae died, previous MAster Aoi returned back so late from a mission that day, asking what happened.. He was told that, Master Aoi watched his cat dies in front of him. ( Sakae referred as a cat in the file records Abeno-san found )
But, Hanae at 3 years of age, the previous Master Aoi, appeared in front of him, disguising as Sakae on the night of christmas. And disappeared again after that never to do it again. ( QUESTION: WHY FOR? WHY DID THE MASTER AOI DO THAT IF HE WOULDN'T CONTINUE PRETENDING?)
Later on, previous Master Aoi, suddenly adopted Abeno as his employee ( more like a successor ) and eventually died (maybe killed).
And that is suspicious.
WhAT EXACTLY IS THAT MISSION THAT ENDED UP SAKAE BEING KILLED?
WHY DID THE MASTER AOI APPEARED IN FRONT OF HANAE AND HIS FAMILY, DISGUISING HIMSELF AS SAKAE, IF HE WOULDN'T CONTINUE PRETENDING AND WOULD JUST SIMPLY DISAPPEARED AFTER THAT?
WHY DID HE SUDDENLY ADOPTED ABENO AND TRAINED HIM TO BE LIKE A SUCCESSOR?
WAS IT SOMEHOW CONNECTED WHY SAKAE POSSESSING HANAE, LURKING WITHIN HIM AS IF BEING SEALED?
WAS IT CONNECTED TO WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW, AND WHY SAKAE AND AOI DIED?
Yanno, what if...
- aoi got in trouble at the sea of trees then sakae offered his life then aoi somehow got hold of this life spirit or something, then planted the said spirit to hanae on that snowy day?
- how about abeno's dad is sakae coz of the hair and eyes? Sakae dyed his hair black but the roots are blonde though. And could aoi actually be hanae's father?
- and what if aoi with the knowldge that death is inevitable because of the illness from the sea of trees, weaved all this because the yokai's need a princess underworld successor and mononokean successor?

I really love this Manga.
The Theme, Plot, Story Structure, Characters, Setting, Style and Tones. This Manga was surely well done in its own pace that this become really a great " reality-based" fiction story.
This manga has its own vibe to be able to reached out to it's reader reality.
The characters were so naturally reality-based that the reader would definitely feel so nostalgic about their own high school life.
Everything about this manga is a masterpiece.
Actually, the first time I read the manga, I was really confused about Allen, Mana/Neah's personality. It was really confusing at first but after re-reading it and analyzing the truth, I was like.. OMF.. It was really twisted.. Hoshino really made a big twisted surprise, Lol.
So, Mana was the Millenium Earl, right? It was him, who adopted and raised "Allen Walker". Neah/The Fourteenth was Mana's older twin brother who were supposed to be the Millenium Earl but eventually got killed, destroyed and devoured by his own twin brother. Mana and Neah were supposed to be only one, a single existence.
But according to Cross Marian, Neah/The 14th would eventually comeback to Mana's side as "Allen" and that Mana lost his mind when Neah died. That was the time when the Millenium Earl's personality of Mana took over his own body. And then, the real Mana adopted and raised "Allen Walker". ( But how the hell did Allen met Neah/The fourteenth? It was said that he inherited Neah's memories as The 14th, cause when he died Allen was within the vicinity.. But as far as I know, it was Mana who were died with Allen, right? )
However, according to Neah/The 14th, it was Mana/The Millenium Earl who adopted and raised Allen Walker. Cause if not, why is "Allen/which is Neah/The 14th" would be able to find and return to Mana's side? It is only because, it was him. That the Millenium Earl is Mana. And remember that moment before Road disappear after she saved Allen to Apochrypos, her last words to Allen Walker was 'Don't stop, keep walking. Keep moving forward, Allen. Because it was Mana's last words to Allen Walker.' That last words of Mana before he died was only told to Allen Walker. So, does that mean Road knows everything about it?
So, the Millenium Earl which is Mana himself, raised Allen Walker. ( But how the hell did it happened? So it's like how it happens to people who has split personality? Their doing it unconsciously? But when Mana died, Allen made him into an akuma, so that soul was Mana's real soul? That's why, now he only has the personality of Millenium Earl within him? But Allen was cursed by Mana, so Mana remains in his cursed left eye? )
And Neah/The 14th told Tykki/Joyd that he wants to laugh so much that it made him want to puke because of Tykki's reincarnation form. I think because, remember when Allen first met Neah's real form? He look a lot like Tykki, he thought it was him but not!
So the key to know the truth if Mana and the Millenium Earl were really just one being is Allen Walker. If Allen would get to see Millenium Earl's true face/form.
Fuck. This was really confused me at first. Lol. (=・ω・=)
Well.. I guess, Satomi and Shino was Tamazusa's reincarnated son after all.. Even though, the story still doesn't mention the mother of these two. I got a feeling that these two has same mother. Since, Tamazusa has an unexplainable interest on both of them. She wanted Shino to became his youngest son's soul vessel and come to think of it, Shino was used to be a very sickly person who has a chronic illness before he was murdered. Apparently, Satomi often acted as Shino's older brother, as he kept on saying that it's his duty to Shino afterall.
And Satomi's overprotective to Shino when it comes to his memory about their mother. Like feeling of hatred to Tamazusa, and coz of that he sealed Shino's memory. Bet Satomi remembers it very well but he didn't want Shino to remember those. And there's more, 18 years old Shino look a lot like Satomi at close up look, minus the color of his hair and eyes, even though Shino look like a girl version though.
On that legend story, Tamazusa has two sons. After leaving the country, they come to the Imperial Capital, but she can't brought two to enter there, she needs a sacrifice so after an agonizing decision she chose the youngest one who is a sickly one thinking his son won't survive with it's condition at all. despite of his son crying to be with them. And so, the youngest one was killed.
Later on, the older son found out what happened and got mad at their mother, and so because of that he killed himself too. Tamazusa got devastated and furious losing his both sons and decided to get revenge to the people of Imperial Capital who was the reason why she lost her both sons and revive her two sons, and so the legend happens.
Your guess or explanation is make sense~~ I'm so curious too about the relationship between Satomi Rio and Shino especially based on how Rio's acts towards Shino and the fact in the anime they have already met when Shino was a little kid while singing a song~~ Shino is under Rio's protection~
And it's really nice to see the relationship between both of them, it's like brotherly~~ and in my opinion Rio's acted really like brother and somewhat he gives me a father figured sense too towards Shino hahaha....
Ah well, really hope this manga will update soon~~
Actually, a lot of possibilities are coming into my mind. This story really make me crave for more.. But the translated updates are so slow.
Also it was subtly mentioned that Shino and Rio do not have the same father.
And it was proven that Rio is Shino's half brother. So maybe they are the reincarnation of Tamazusa's sons. :>

According to the story, before Shino, his mother suffered from countless miscarriage thus making her pregnancy with Shino very sensitive and dangerous. And because of countless miscarriage her womb became very weak it affected the baby thus ended up being the sickly Shino that we know.
Shino's chronic illness seems to be inborn. Theyre really just like the previous Tamazusa's sons. i wonder how Tamazusa regained her memories of past life? Something like reawakened?
Or maybe she had became a god of some sort?

I prefer that Allen was the uke. Kanda as the submissive one is really cute too, but I think Allen was much more better. but I wanna see Allen using his charms again to get what he wants.. just like what he did in the manga after the final arc in the anime and before the D.Gray - Man Hallow. That time when Kanda and Lavi turn into kids and Allen's hair grow longer, Allen really look so beautiful. <3 (▰˘◡˘▰)
If this manga turns into having a bishounen shounen ai or yaoi couple also, I don't know what would be the fans reaction. Like hell yeah, it is really great for someone like us who really love BL/Yaoi..

Well, of course it's Allen, the real one. Coz whenever they were together, Allen can't help himself to express his real personality as Red ( Allen's real name ) before he met Mana and before Mana died. The real personality of Allen Walker was a Tsundere, just like Kanda. So whenever Kanda and Allen were together, they were always being a tsundere to each other. If you read the story carefully and look at the character development and clues, you'll know that Kanda and Allen is OTP.
CLUES:
First and foremost, Black and White pairing. The Black and White pairing has existed since the Yin and Yang age. And it is obvious who is totally black and who is totally white in the story.
Secondly, Kanda is the first major character that Allen met out of the three including Lenalee and Rabi. And we all know that the first girl is end girl. But in this story, it's first hubby is end hubby.
Thirdly, the Hate/Hate relationship. Anyone who read shoujo manga knows that the character who butt heads with the MC the most is usually end hubby. They even have nicknames for each other. Moyashi and Bakanda!
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Like a lot of the people here have said, Allen shares a great deal of similarity to Kanda. They both were outcast by the Order. Allen himself is also a cynical person and a tsundere like Kanda. He and Kanda both lost someone they love. More importantly, they BOTH killed the person they love. Alma Karma is not OTP with Kanda. I repeat, he is NOT OTP with Kanda. He's only a cannon fodder to bring Kanda closer to Allen. That's why he died.
Then there is the case in which Allen always act like his real self around Kanda like some of you mention. Now, he's revealing his past to Kanda. The ship is OTP I tell you.
Allen is the Uke. If you look carefully at the story, it is not surprising to see why.

The first time I read that title and its content, I thought it means Nea/The 14th would be successing overtaking Allen's body.
But after a lots of thought and how I keep thinking THOSE CHAPTER TILL THE RECENT ONE, I've came up with a diffirent hunch..
Maybe, after analizing his Master Cross last words to him.. it could also mean that Allen would stop acting like Mana/Nea_The 14th - and Allen would start over again as his real personality when he is still named as Red.
If we think about it properly, Allen was already doing it whenever he was with Kanda and they were arguing. In Allen's flashback when he was still a kid, he's personality was alot more like Kanda. Allen was also a Tsundere. Whenever they were together, Allen was regaining his real personality as Red.
Maybe that was it all about? It was just another hunch though.

I'm really excited to see him starting over again as his true self.
Though I'd like to see that too, I actually like Allen more than Red.
Before Mana, he was basically Kanda with red hair. But after Mana, he became more compassionate and sympathetic towards others. The imprint that Mana left on him was so strong that it changed him completely. Even after Mana was long gone, Mana continue to live on through him. That was how strong Mana and his bond was. And that was what drew me the most to D. Gray Man. Not the story itself but the bond of the characters. If not for that, I would have drop this a long time ago.
Though I'd like Allen to show his cute side to satiate my guilty pleasure, I'd much prefer him stay true to who his character is and what he represent. Even after everything, to belittle his feelings for Mana now will be to belittle everything that has happen up to this point. I honestly still want Allen to cherish Mana the same way he did even after finding out about Nea.
I really can't help from crying everytime I read this manga. especially when Haru does something so stupidly cruel to Ren..
Haru's being a jerk he keep on taking for Granted Ren.
I wanted to have a twist in their pairings like...
What if Akira fell in love to our Ren and declares his love to Ren in front of the Kaidou Brothers? Haru would be shock.. I wanted Haru to feel threatened.. That what if Ren fall for akira too?

Oujo x Handa - sensei ----> I approved this ship. There's a 99% chance that the arrange marriage would be back. They look good together. And it's kinda funny. They would be the clueless, ever so popular, handsome and fashionable young calligrapher (Handa - sensei) and the hopeless, now looking in good shape, no fashion sense at all, love at first sight (Oujo) couple.
I wonder what would happen? I hope they love story continues since, they're in good terms now, their parents also agrees now, too.. And seems like Kirie-san are rooting for them too.
And honestly, Handa sensei's character now is really changed. I also eager to see what would they react, if they happen to trigger back Handa - sensei's old mature like personality. Aloof, cool, scary and mature like except his over-exaggerated negative thinking. That personality that no one can even get close to him, nor talk to him.
The heck he was treated like a Divine God, it's so funny.
