As much of a scumbag as the ML is, the other chars are so much worse that in comparison, he’s borderline mc’s saviour from his current situation. Otherwise his future would’ve looked a lot grimmer. I can already see MC landing himself in a lot of trouble due to his stubbornness and selective attitude for the ML.

The story wanted to portray the MC as a tragic victim taking revenge on a groveling scummy ML, but the execution totally backfired. Instead the ML is the true victim, while the MC is an infuriating, self-sabotaging mess. Honestly it’s almost entirely him hurting himself.

Time and again, MC recklessly attempt to either kill or rebel against ML without power, leverage, or strategy, repeating the same doomed cycle.
His actions aren’t just futile, they endanger everyone around him. If he truly cared about his people, why does he keep making the same mindless mistakes?
Most of it stemmed from his crushed sense of pride, but c’mon, he couldn’t even deal with that much for his ppl?

ML shockingly has been more than forgiving, sparing both him and his allies despite repeated betrayals. He even cleans up after MC so to keep him safe from his crimes. This wasn’t even a usurper who seized the throne through bloodshed, it was a fair conquest. Yet the MC’s resentment is so irrational it borders on stupidity.

In the end, his poor judgment gets his brother and allies killed. And their deaths weren’t even the ML’s doing. The blame falls all on the MC. How did someone with such poor judgement ever rule an empire? All the tragedies could’ve been avoided if he weren’t so senseless. He could have had it all, but he threw it all away.

Honestly, my sympathy lies with the ML. His entire world revolved around the MC, and every choice he made was tied to him. He started out on a bad note by forcing the MC against his will and making him his queen, but given the era, an emperor claiming someone wasn’t even considered immoral.
Unlike typical toxic MLs, he never abused the MC, if anything he literally worshipped him as if he were a deity. Even in the end, he kept his promise and protected the empire. That’s what makes it so tragic, he gave everything yet he was never enough for the MC.

I was take aback when they finally faced real consequences, with no plot armor to save them. Turns out the author just wanted to wrap up that timeline to send them back in time. All so the ML could suffer twice over for no reason sike.

By the end, it didn’t even feel like the MC truly loved him, just that he gave in because the ML refused to let go. The author made both the ML and Yun so obsessively devoted to the MC that it stopped making sense. Poor Yun got it worst, he died for the MC in both timelines.

Reading this feels like I’m trapped in a genjutsu. Because truth is, ML is utter scum and hasn’t changed one bit—he’s simply holding back due to lived experience.

FL only has partial memorises, therefore she’s getting scammed in this relationship due to not remembering the full extent of his cruelty towards her.
On the surface they’re this shippable power couple, but beneath the facade lies the uncomfortable truth.

What I can say about the current FL, is that she’s a natural white lotus, she’s very cool. And that goes for all the other women by her side, they’re all so cool. Her family are the biggest victims in all of this, they’ve to bear the burnt of her terrible decisions, yes including her terrible man.

ML should’ve been throughly tortured before being granted a chance at redoing life. And I bet the other scum version of himself will make a comeback later down the line to further taunt FL.
The people trying to equate her obsession with him in the second world to his actions have lost it. These two things are incomparable.

Love this author for writing chars that behave like actual adults, as well as their portray of adult dynamics. I like how the chars aren’t senseless and their behaviours are mature yet sweet.
It’s so sexy compared to childish characterisations that are oddly popular in this industry.

I also don’t like this authors other work’s MC—Hestia. She seem to have a knack for creating annoying MC’s, ig she sees herself in them which is honestly pathetic. They’re both so boy crazy, Hestia gives me Hailey Bieber vibes lmao.

Uke has a nasty and nosy personality, but it’s on brand for kids that grow up without proper adult supervision. That’s why a lot foster kids continue getting kicked out of homes, they cannot behave themselves and this is unfortunately due to a lack of ingrained discipline. Humans need to be trained like animals from a young age for them to function properly in the real world. We’re very much a part of the animal kingdom.

It’s pretty obvious he’s going to be ML’s downfall, be it him having to leave the underworld or getting heavily injured trying to save his stupidass. Which may be well deserved, given he’s not doing anything good for the world, but at his heart, he’s still a good man and that’s hard to hate on.

ML is a load shark and drug dealer, naturally he commits gangster crimes, but his bottomline is sleeping with a minor lol. It’s unrealistic but I can respect that.

Ngl uke kinda grosses me out with his behaviour lol, it may have been a tad bit better had it not been for the outdated granny attire, but I also don’t dig chars that behave loosely. First meeting he was already grinding on the man, c’mon even prostitutes have more tact.
