True tho even before he was under the influence, he still didn't really do anything to stop his mom and instead let others get hurt/die, just to keep himself safe and comfy in the palace. He let the people of his kingdom suffer because he was to afraid to fight for them and just wanted for everyone else to do the heavy work for him. I mean pretty sure he was completely on board with getting his brother killed in war just so he can easily get the crown.

I find that a lot of these political intrigue characters, especially the ones with the "sexy ML who kills people arbitrarily", tend to have at least one less-than-guilty character who dies in an unsettling fashion.
