What I got from it is the older brother is a toxic ass mofo that wouldn't be happy either way.(meaning if his little brother accepted him, or not)
First the older brother blames himself for taking out his frustrations in such a self-destructive way to ultimately recieve kindness/attention from his little brother. That kindness being something he obsessed over due to his lust for his little brother. Then when his little brother does accept him, the older brother goes even more berserk at the fact he really pushed his little brother into a corner. The friend was laughing knowing how the little brother felt, and how dishonest he was being to the teacher for the sake of pleasing his older brother. I think the little brother needs get as far away from the older sibs as possible, because it's going to eventually*predicting * make him spiral.
Older bro goes ‘even more berserk’ bc he doesn’t want anyone finding out of their relationship (since if the relationship is ever found out, his younger bro would be thrown into the shadows/ in a world full of judgment and hurt, so he wants him to continue to live in the light), and if they seem close to others there’s more of a chance of ppl finding out (I also think older bro just has taken on the role of being the bad one to make his younger bro look better in comparison, and be the so-called ‘light’). P sure friend didn’t know what little bro was feeling, and laughed bc he felt the whole situation was just funny and nonsensical (friend doesn’t seem to give much shits for anyone but himself).
So I agree to alot of that*def have to look at what would honestly be better for his little bro if he wasn't so obsessive/skewed perceptions, or controlling* , but in the very first chapter the friend knew about the older brother's "immoral thoughts", and the other 2-3 scenes he was in he knew of their relationship.
