not spoilers, cuz I don't actually know, but if you don't want to be spoiled, don't read just in case...? I just enjoy analyzing stuff, and wanted to share.

Okay, so did the Mom only give birth to Anette, and freaked out because she wasn't a male heir...so went to the demon to wish for a son, and got 'John'? And maybe the reason John looks so much like Anette...is because the demon is mimicking her features to endear himself to her? His demon form inspires fear and rejection, and I've got a feeling he desperately hates that coming from Anette. Thus the mimicry. Humans are most at ease around things that look like them.
and in the images of them as children playing, he's gazing at Anette. and the seedy little bro even complains about how John humors her in everything. Its gotta be lonely being a demon. and she wasn't afraid, and loved him freely, certainly more freely than a mother who knew her 'son' was actually a demon. Probably why she locked up her daughter---to protect her from 'John'.
the mother took Anette away, but John wouldn't forget that freedom of affection that he'd experienced probably for the first time ever. & then he probably had to be present for her first night with her husband with that whole audience (gawd, lets kill our ancestors when we meet them in the next life, yeah? that was actually a thing, damn them to hell!)
okay. long rant. it just got me thinking. Anette probably means a lot to John/the demon.
I don't think he remembers that he's a demon, tho. will that come when the missing wing somehow gets attached?

I had to stop reading, this is so abusive. He literally got her ripped away from her family and put into an abusive environment, and won't take "no" for an answer when she has made it clear she does NOT CONSENT to any of this. He locks her up, and treats her escape attempts like a game. This is like my worst nightmare--who gives a flying fuck if he's got a good face... he doesn't respect her AT ALL. It's sick. I'm so fucking mad now. its so gross.

Don't be mad... but I kinda get creepy vibes from Keiya? I mean, he's yakuza, so he's supposed to have a bit of attitude and scary eyes... It isn't going to keep me from reading the story, but am I the only one seeing this? Isn't he a bit off at times? Maybe a lot of the time? Am I just imagining things??? Σ( ̄□ ̄||)
I hope I don't get too much hate for this... I just wanna know if we're seeing the same thing. I'm okay with slightly unhinged protagonists, I just don't like pretending its something else, if that makes sense.
e.g. I love 'Raise wa Tanin ga Ii'--but they definitely aren't pretending he isn't nuts, and she's kinda crazy too, so it's okay.

This is probably going to an unpopular remark, but... is anyone else seriously displeased with the fact that Cabel was literally backing her up to a cliff? His expression and demeanor gave her every reason to be afraid, regardless of his obliviousness to it. I like him better than shiny hair ...but he has problems.
You know how Anette asked if John hated her and that was why he did those things, and John was like "You wouldn't understand if I explained"? I was like (╯°Д °)╯╧╧ Explain it, don't just leave her confused!!! But then... I had a depressing epiphany...
Anette has only ever been raped. She's never been safely aroused in her entire life. And sure as shit is smelly, the bastard husband who raped her in front of an audience on their wedding night didn't give a flying fuck about the importance of foreplay, or about how SHE felt at all. And the demon? John was hardly in his right mind enough to work her up to it. He thought he was dreaming, for fucks sake. Even if he had given it a decent attempt, she was so overwhelmed and scared that it just would have made it all the more confusing.
Sex is just violence to Anette. Strange, confusing violence that makes her feel powerless and dehumanized. It would NOT make sense to her that John loving her could make him want to do that to her, and John apparently has more empathy than your average joe, and can see it from her perspective. Bravo for that, yeah?
she likes kisses and cuddles because those are a safe, comforting form of intimacy with someone who loves her... but the jump from that to sex is mired in so much trauma that it makes NO SENSE. Why would he suddenly want violence when they were just being sweet?
gawd, these poor children.
