Idk why but most multiple story I read , like the 2nd couple is like better? Than the og couple, the og is still cute but .. I thinks that rn the second couple is cuter

You’re probably just not into heavy stuffs. The main couple is dealing with lots of trauma. They’re a lot more complex than this pairing.

no, it’s more like the second couple is usually more flushed out, I’ve read stories where the second couple is the toxic one yet it was far more enjoyable. I was actually more motivated to finish this story when I realized who the second couple was gonna be

    Haruna August 10, 2024 7:29 am

Actually its kinda both, like if the first couple has a heavy plot , i feel better seeing a fluffy side couple, and if like the main couple has a light hearted plot, seeing like an angsty side couple get me exckted. So.. Maybe im just refreshed when i read the side couple stories

    burntoutbussy August 10, 2024 8:29 am

totally agree w/ ppl!! i love to watch chars in the background come into perspective and make their own connections. i feel like even just having a second couple allows for the world to expand even further than all the plot and lore that has already been established. and by the time the second couple is introduced, the writer has so much space to flush out and focus solely on the second couple's emotional material which creates a story that i personally often find more appealing. half the time i sit through dry parts i dont always like during the main story yet it continues to grab our attention bc of all the emotions and love thats in the plot. meanwhile, the second couple often allows us to get to the core of the story/whatever special thing that has gotten us this far (love, dat D, etc), way faster than the main story couple. tldR; second couples are so good bc lore, plot and style is already establishd so creator gets to have fun and skip the boring shit. also brownie points if main couple and second couple are all in a cute friend group T-T

Did you mean "more fleshed out"? Because "more flushed out" doesn’t make any sense. If that’s what you meant, the second couple is far from it. Lol. As much as I adore Boram, his character literally appeared out of thin air. There was no hint from the beginning that he’d be anything more than an assistant, so it’s pretty jarring to see three consecutive chapters devoted to his love story. It’s not entirely shocking that Chungi went from a casual fling to the second lead, but it is surprising to see him get his own romantic arc so soon, especially given his long list of transgressions. I’m all for character development, but this attempt to endear him to the readers feels cheap. It seems like the author wanted to stir some reactions, but anyone paying attention to the story's progression wouldn’t be falling head over heels for this couple, at least not with the intensity this comment section is showing. Also, claiming they're better than the main couple? That’s just absurd.

Hi, it seems part of your criticism is about ppl expressing the fact they like the second couple with "intensity" and I just wanted to say maybe op and PERSONALLY myself wanted to hear from ppl who also like the second couple. If your goal was to convince me that the second couple is objectively bad (keyword: objectively), your argument fails immediately because we interpreted the same events in the story differently which is okay, you know, such is art. However. What really grinds my gears and as a result hinders your argument even further is the way you frame your perspective as seemingly superior to those who DID like the second couple.
Exhibit A: "...anyone paying attention to the story's progression, wouldn't be falling head over heels for the second couple."
I'm not sure if you realize it or not but this is rather belittling to people (ME) who in fact were following the story's progression closely because surprise omg we really like the story. It sounds like you imply we weren't paying attention to just downright degrade our opinions for being different. Is it that impossible to read the same thing and come to different conclusions and have different thoughts? On top of that you try to invalidate the "intensity" of our opinions as well, which feels like another condescending attempt at judging our opinion on a superficial level. Like sorry for party rockin, i just like this couple lmao. I understand and maybe apologize (LOL) if that's not what you meant but that's just what it sounded like to me. And it sounded rude so >:[
I would like to make it extremely clear if I haven't already but my issue is NOT the fact that you dislike the second couple. Of course, I'm not entitled to your consideration but when talking about stories and criticizing art in general I tend to avoid discussing whose opinion is better or more right since its so unproductive. You telling me my opinion is bad does nothing for me, I mean hell I'm sat here doing the same thing to you and I haven't even talked about the story itself yet. Speaking of the story moving on ---
I think you're prematurely judging a story that has already done so much with the little time it's been given. I didn't interpret the side story as much of a "cheap" jab at the audience to get us to forgive or forget about Chung's actions mainly because of how flawed even his attempts at being a better person were. And I don't find it all that "jarring" to switch to Chung's love life since after we see him get rejected I was curious to see him get a decent ending so seeing him in the second couple made sense to me. Additionally, I think the author won't allow Chung's redemption to be so easily earned until at least Chung and Boram get together. Even now I don't think we are meant to forget how immature Chung is when it comes to love since he's going down the route of avoiding his feelings AGAIN just this time it's with Boram. The fact that Chung has barely learned from his mistakes serves to promise more for their story and I can totally see problems still arising once they get together. I think the writing has done a good job at drawing this line between Chung falling for Boram and Chung being redeemed for his "transgressions". In fact the line is so well drawn between Chung's redemption and their relationship's development together we see exactly how these lines intersect when Boram helps Chung towards redemption in chp 66 where he decides (permanently? temporarily?) to not pursue Jiho further in order to essentially stay in Boram's good graces. And this decision we find out later had influenced the main story drastically since Jiho had actually considered a future with Chung while he was feeling uncertain in his own relationship with Inwoo. All this to say is, in order for Chung to finally give up on Jiho a lot of fleshing out was needed. Chung doesn't just get feelings out of nowhere, we've seen him be honest with Boram in ways he's never been with Jiho. I would go as far to say Boram offers and successfully is able to give Chung something Chung just wasn't ready to accept from Jiho which is, ironically, consistency. The way they care for each other through the nightly dinners and companionship pays off directly and rewardingly in chp 66. However, from what we know about Chung and how problematic he can be when it comes to love he even still regrets giving up on Jiho and there is a possibility he could even start pursuing Boram as a distraction from his heartbreak in a friends with benefits situation so I don't think the author is willing to give us his redemption and overall development so easily. And at the same time, at least for me, it's still fun to watch the fluff unfold as he does fall in love despite his flaws. Chung embodies a flawed person that love slowly changes before our very eyes. Also, you said Boram seemingly comes out of nowhere but this love story is as much Chung's as it is Boram's. I think how normal and unassuming he is in both design and character serves the light angsty theme of insignificance in the second story really well. It is hinted that Boram does feel insignificant whether it be to us as the readers, to the plot or to Chung. In a symbolic way, this side story gives him the chance to take up space in the foreground. I loved how the moment in chp 66 made him vital to not only Chung's development but also the main plot's development because without him Chung wouldn't have made the decision to stop pursuing Jiho. And the way Chung makes him feel needed and important is always present through the chapters covering their dinners which adds to all the fleshing out you said their story lacked. I totally understand if you think the main couple is more complex, but I think you're looking in the wrong places for where the second story truly shines. All love, didn't mean for anything to come off as too harsh just wanted to defend one of my favs lmao

Morally the first couple is technically "better'. When I say second couples are more fleshed out, it's like the author gets a trial run with the first couple so usually the second couple's pacing is better. It might be a little odd for the assistant to be thrown in, but I predicted they would be the second couple very early on. I think it would be a little weirder for some random character we've never met to be thrown in. I don't find it cheap, i think the author just wanted to explore a little more with the world of characters they created. Also you've said its only been about* three chapters, so only time will tell if they are more fleshed out. Also, notice I didn't reference this story but second couples in general.
