Definitely think it feels like there are lots of missing pieces but also a lot of the missing pieces feel like if filled in would complicate parts of the story that are kind of nice left vague just because it adds to the feeling of not full comprehending the emotions and characters.

This is really fucked up and the writing super flawed. They clearly wanted to write about a child being sexually abused as if they could make light of it. The first chapter makes that clear. The child doesn't react like a child would, they just skim over it and act as though this child enjoys being raped the first time he's forced and penetrated. Just bad.
