I love how while other yaoi manga here tackle their own love conflicts, here's Sweet Heart Trigger making us see realistic scenarios and in complex, elaborated ways too. It's like it's forcing us to make us see the truth of relationships, in any form it may be, that it's indeed bitter and sometimes there are cases that put us in difficult and uncomfortable situations. While other stories could discuss such situations and resolve it through least realistic methods, here's this manga that brings us back to real life, telling us that HERE, LOOK HERE, THIS IS WHAT HUMANS ACTUALLY FEEL, YOU KNOW.
Alex? He thinks he owns the world. He has superiority complex.
Cole? He overthinks and always has crazy thoughts. He is "odd" as he mentions himself to be.
Alex and Cole - they both are disturbing but unfortunately, they represent the ugly sides of all of us people, making them completely relatable. It's the reason why we feel disturbed or triggered, since as humans, we always want to escape from seeing this truth that reveals our true ugly nature and prefer to believe that everything will work out and humans can be good and beautiful as often portrayed in fiction.
True, it is toxic because it's different from all the ideal relationship, but.... It's realistic, the ideal relationship is not always happen. We might fight to understand each other, but we never truly understand everything, because everyone is not the same. That's why it's my favorite manga. Not too ugly to be a crime but definitely not a fairy tale one hopes :0
The cover is quite misleading. I really thought Chanyoung's going to be the main love interest and that he and Heesu will end up together. I mean, it did have the potential after the slight flashback of Chanyoung from the past and his family being against gay relationships. I actually assumed he liked Heesu back but couldn't admit because of his family issues. I really thought he and Heesu will have to face those hardships and be together in the end but boy was I proved wrong.
Seungwon gave me the second male lead vibes cause he's just sooo sweet and kind and perfect and I really thought he's the character that Heesu will like, making Chanyoung realize his feelings for Heesu are actually stronger than his fears and so on. He really gave off that kind of second male lead feels! So all along from start to finish I was thinking that Heesu ended up with the second lead lol. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not against their relationship, I love them cause they're really fluffy and so cute and full of sunshine, it's just that there's this tiny lil space in my heart that feels something's missing in this relationship I'm not sure what. Anyway as long as they're happy, that all is well.
As for the second couple, I'm not really a big fan of them since it started weird and the admirer came on too strong which didn't give a good impression, and mostly they needed to work on their communication. One decides on his own then poof, the other also decides on his own then poof. It's like having a one-sided relationship where you act what you want and not consider your partner's feelings and thoughts. From start to finish, they're a big MEH on the communication part. Really. No kidding.
Thats what i love about this relationship... Clearly Chanyoung didnt magically turned gay cause he liked someone, but he cared enought for his friend to try his best to make sure his good friend didnt obsess over him until his death. Because he knew he really couldnt give heesu what he wanted, so he just nudged the kid towards someone who really cared for him xD
Reread for the thousand times. Haruka is just soooo cute and the dedication they have for each other is just SOOOO Ungnh I want one for myself!! PLEASEEEE!
