I don't hate his mother but at the same time I feel like he doesn't really need to forgive everything too. I feel petty but if I was him, I won't harbor any hatred but I also won't be able to forgive my mother. For me, understanding is not forgiving. I understand her thought process at that time but at the same time, her actions shaped me as a person. Can you imagine what if MC didn't meet the good people around him? Yes he did meet good people at the end but even then, he's already hanging by a thread. He grew up with a lot of trauma and that can't be erased just because he understood the reason. I can't, in good faith, do and say what the MC did here. I admire his strength, compassion, and love for his mother.
