This is the first BL that I’ve finished that has left such a good, warm feeling for me. Honestly, the whole plot line and character development between the characters are so good. The fact that most people supported them. And the fact that the author showed a panel of them growing old together really hit the nail. I’m so emotional over this and do not regret reading it at all.
I read the novel up to the most updated chapter, ch. 33 and I’ll just say that I’m very frustrated at the whole plot

So Rosemond, the concubine, plans to swap out the beef steaks with pork so she can get our main character in trouble. The day the envoys arrive, she is hella happy and expecting for the queen to get in trouble. But when the food comes, she is shocked because the beef was not switched out. Embarrassed, the concubine steps out of the dining hall. Then the queen does the same. She confronts the concubine about the pork issue and SLAPS the concubine on the cheeks THREE TIMESSS (yessss) Blah Blah Blah, they argue and the queen (our mc) warns the concubine that if she acts up next time, she’ll be in trouble. Then the queen returns to the dining hall where the envoys are while the concubine goes back to her palace. Unfortunately, this issue isn’t made public. Later on when the Emperor (our supposed ml) meets up with his concubine, she goes up to him crying and acting all sweet and innocent. He asks her what’s wrong but she won’t tell him so he gets suspicious. Then he decides to find answers by going to the queen. He overheard the queen and her maid talking about the issue and is shocked. Then he enters the room pretending he didn’t hear. Instead of asking about the issue, he only asked the queen if today’s event was good or not. After that, the scene changes and it is nighttime. The queen can’t sleep so she decides to take a walk. She stops at a place in the garden and starts crying because she’s scared. She’s scared that the concubine will stay in favor of the Emperor and she’s scared that the future will repeat. And surprise surprise, the emperor sees her crying. They talk a little and then the queen runs off embarrassed but then it started raining. The queen tries to decide if she should run or go back to help the emperor. After a while, she decides to run and help him. The queen was surprised when she saw the emperor just sitting the rain dazed. So she drags him to her palace. When they arrive at her palace, all the servants are surprised. Then the queen told her servants to let the emperor sleep in her room while she sleeps in a guest room. Next chapter, it’s morning and the Emperor wakes up. He’s embarrassed about what happens then leaves. News gets out about this and then the concubine gets app angry and confronts the queen. The queen told her that it was none of her business and that she should go. The next few scenes are about the queen’s sister becoming her maid. And then after that, the queen decides to practice her horse back riding and archery because she wants to join in on the hunting event in a few days. And surprise surprise, she meets the Emperor. They talk a little and surprise surprise, it starts to rain...again. This time they’re deep in a forest and can’t exactly go back so they wait under a huge tree. There they talk and the queen decides to tell the truth since the Emperor asked. They talk some more and then the Queen’s knight finds them and they go back. In the hunting competition, stuff happens and the queen decides to not hunt with her knights and the emperor does the same thing. While they’re hunting, they shooter the same animal. But as they’re conversing, an ambush happens and they start fighting by themselves, the two of them. Then the emperor takes a poisoned arrow to his shoulder instead of the queen. Now they start to run. The queen runs with the Emperor’s unconscious body and they are corned at a cliff. She asks the assassins who sent them and they answered with the concubine’s name. Then she jumps off the cliff and into the river. She removes her clothes and strips to only her undergarments. Thing happen and they fund refugee in a cave and the queen tries everything to keep the Emperor alive. Finally when he wakes up they rush back to the where everyone else is residing. There the queen announces that someone tried to assassinate her and the emperor was shot with a poisoned arrow. Of course everyone freaks out and tries to help and then the Queen confronts the concubine. Saying that the concubine was behind this Assassination then the chapter ends and that’s all for now.

Okay since everyone is confused, I’ll try to explain it. Btw, my explanation might be wrong so don’t attack me all of a sudden.
So the princess is the main character and she is most likely first in line to inherit the thrown. Her brother, the dude with the highlights in his hair doesn’t think she’s suited to rule and wants to overthrow her. The guy he was talking to is Kaligo’s leader, the black haired dude and most likely the main lead. While leaving the brother, the ml meets the princess while she’s training. The princess is curious who this new man is and challenges him to a duel. They duel but the princess loses and she is faced with the fact that she is not good at swordsmanship. The princess wants to be good at everything so when she learned that she wasn’t good at swordsmanship from the ml, she starts getting suspicious. The princess confronts one of the knights who then rattle and say that the princess’s mother’s order them to lie that she was good at swordsmanship because the mother knows if the princess is not good at something then the princess will try hard to become better and not focus on anything else. That is the reason why the mother told the knights to lie. After fighting the princess, the ml thinks that the princess’s brother might be wrong about the princess and that the princess might be smarter than she seems. Besides that, the princess is having visions into the future, that future shows the princess as the ruler of her kingdom. The princess soon finds out that she is visioning herself in the future and becomes slightly happy. But then things happen and the princess finds out that her mother (I’m not sure if they’re biological or not) but her mother, the Red King is planning to find a Blue King (basically trying to find the princess a suitor). The princess does not want a fiancé yet. The princess learns that her maids are most likely spies from her mother. The princess is angry at this fact at first. And then the latest chapter shows the princess taking the initiative and trying to attend a ball outside of the palace. Judging by the wording, it seems like she doesn’t really leave the palace so it’s her first time. She purposely says it out loud so the maids who are spies will report back to her mother. The second half of the chapter shows that the ml wanted information so they contacted a guild/source that would give them the info. They find out that the princess is attending the ball and that’s all for now.

I can’t wait til she finally drops all of her male concubines that she has rn (if she does drop them) cus they all fake as hell. I’d prefer if she didn’t have a harem but if she does I hope the mls from the cover show up soon! Guys this isn’t a spoiler, I’m just guessing!!
Omg I just found this manga today and finished it. And I kid you not, every chapter, I’ve cried. Like even when the characters tear up a bit, I start crying too. It’s honestly such a beautiful, well-drawn, well plotted, well written story and the interactions and character development is just beautiful. It’s been a while since I’ve read something so good.
