i binged this all in one day and these are my current thoughts. honestly the smut part of the manhwa ruins it i never thought i would say this but the plot is so complex and intricate and interesting that when we pause to a smut scene im thrown off. i love smut and think a lot of romance manhwas should have smut but this story is so off putting. when it comes to solhee, she was incredibly delusional and honestly a little crazy homie rejected every man because she thought of a boy she only knew for a few months when she was a kid. it was really embarrassing seeing her blush and be flustered over his actions like omg girl please don’t piss me off right now and stand up. i think she’s become tolerable now. i’m glad that instead of focusing on revenge, she chose heewon’s happiness. that is her redemption. she was insufferable in the beginning but i like her now and while it was difficult, i like the development and maturity of her character. we don’t always need perfect female leads. heewon is incredibly sweet and i feel so bad for him. his father doesn’t love him and abuses him and while his mom did love him in the past, her current situation and issues have made her into an alcoholic who cares more about being found out than the actual feelings of her son. i will say, i enjoyed the fact they gave heewon feelings. he is scared of his father and it isn’t something that is easily healed. it’s very realistic. the only thing i find weird is he tries so hard to hide his mom’s affair girl we dgaf if the hoe is caught.

the mother while i understand she was a poor country bumpkin who stroke it rich and fell in love, had a child but then her husband started cheating on her and not loving her anymore. i understand why she would want to cheat back but what i hate is that she’s so insufferable. she chooses to wallow in her self misery and she’s so insecure it’s disgusting. not to mention she does not care nor respect her son. bringing in her affair partner knowing her son is in the house is disgusting and pathetic. and not to mention the only time her son has shown real interest and passion in something and is happy to talk to her, she just wants to get rid of the only person who has brought a positive contribution to his life because she’s scared solhee will reveal her affair. maybe you should have been more careful you selfish bitch.

the dad is just a prick. abusive, calculating, he deserves to die. there’s not much about him but i don’t really care. if there’s one person woojae should kill, it’s him.

woojae himself is wow another story. he’s a fucking psycho. he’s so fucking weird. he sees a happy mother and son and decides “yeah i want that” and now he’s seeing how the mother has changed like yeah dude it’s because of you. then he had the nerve to spout the bs “i am going to fix them” fix who?? bitch last time i checked your name was woojae not bob the builder? hoe you’re a private driver, do your job you fucking slut. woojae is so weird. i won’t say too much about his situation with solhee because solhee was weird and woojae had every right to reject her but then he goes provoking heewon saying he’s gonna be his dad one day? right now he’s incredibly mysterious and im still confused on his motive. sure he loved the mom because he has weird mommy issues but what else now?

this story would have been so much better if angie’s resolve to return to her original world was stronger. i understand she wavered because her original life in SK was horrible but having her kill him just to regret it and then not even return to her own world is embarrassing. how can fear turn into love?

this may be completely off topic but i think the greatest flaw about the manga adaptation is the way it skims through all of the plot. reading the novel gives so much more depth and complication you can actually start to understand the feelings of all the characters. with the manga it is very surface level. i especially think it was regretful to sum up chika’s traumatic experience as a sex slave in like five panels of the first chapter. in the novel, after buying and observing chika’s body, gale realizes his anus is torn because he was raped by a beast man in their beast form. that is utterly terrifying. not to mention when chika first arrived, he was GANGRAPED by three men as a virgin. i will admit, it is a little weird the author regressed his age. personally i would’ve loved to see 40 yr old chika’s love with gale and douglas! old men romance rise!!!! that’s the only thing i wont defend. maybe in the future, if there’s ever a readaptation, i wish they could truly explore the manga the way the novel was written although i highly doubt it.

i’m a little confused as to why asha was called in as well? they said anyone who was involved with lord brayden but as far as i know, asha never slept with him right? like all she did was meet him that one time and deliver drugs to him?? unless she WAS sleeping with him and they never showed it??? like im so confused cus she’s a kitchen maid so she rarely even sees him ???

extremely interesting. i was a little confused at first because the mermaid looked so young but right now currently, we are experiencing his backstory. the girl isn’t our mc but the great grandfather’s niece. b/c of the translation i really assumed it was a boy but it makes so much more sense why the grown up mel thought our mc was servain. they are literally identical. i find it interesting how the og servain hated how her father locked up her mother and called it love and yet she ended up doing it to mel too. this will definitely be very complicated if they’re adding romance to the plot. how will mel feel about our servain who is nothing like the og servain he knew? they have the exact same face. although the og servain was incredibly sick, i still feel really bad because the maid was poisoning her because she wanted to keep mel to herself. i can’t wait for the backstory to finish and we can get on with the current flow. i found this gem way too early and now i have to wait.
