Hmm I know everyone loves to debate on whether they forgive the mom or not (imo not my decision but only lilyca) but I do really love how complex and complicated the mom is. Without her past actions and how they came to this timeline, the story would've been really flat imo.
It adds a very interesting aspect of the story and I feel like esp seeing it through lily pov rly helps put it into perspective. I mean, people can change right? I like the complexity.
Im catching up again and truly I dont think I can fully hate the mom. She absolutely fucked up in her past life but she knows that and she paid the price (she literally got burned at the stake). She's trying so hard to make amends and its clear that she was hurt too and was in a dark place. I think that's why Liricas line about loving the moon with all its oceans really got to me :( she sees her mom as the moon. Bright and beautiful and also with dark spots and flaws. But she loves her regardless.
No one's perfect. Everyone's just trying to survive in the story TT I love liricas ability to see the good in people. Her love for her family and friends is so pure
