Man... this story just won’t leave my mind. It’s been 24 hours now, and I’m still stuck on this webtoon. Especially this part:
'...I thought human desires were endless, but surprisingly, they do come to an end at some point. What do you think that man felt once his desires completely wore out? Futility. After finally escaping from the prison of his desires, he evolved into something completely new based on that sense of futility!'
Here’s the step-by-step evolution that unfolds:
1. Early stage: Listening to their monster temptations.
2. Becoming a full monster.
3. Turning into a cocoon.
4. Rebirth into a new being, in human form.
BUT
Throughout the story, people who chose to become monsters, when reborn as new humans, lacked emotions. No pain, no sadness, no laughter, just nothingness. Blank. Emotionless. They lost the self.
I didn’t fully grasp the conclusion of this cycle before (from early stage to rebirth) until I witnessed Hyun’s rebirth from the cocoon.
At first, he seemed emotionless. But when he tried to listen the song that once made him feel alive, he cried. Hyun, he still has emotions, even after rebirth.
'...After finally escaping from the prison of his desires, he evolved into something completely new based on that sense of futility!'
'Every human has desires.'
That’s true. And the monster’s words also valid: 'i wish I could say those desires are always for the best, but that’s not true.'
BUT
the monster didn’t realize: Some desires are for the best. Those aligned with one’s authentic self, higher purpose, and that aligned with their soul.
Like Hyun’s desire to protect his loved ones. It didn’t destroy him, it awakened him. His desire wasn’t rooted in ego, but in his soul.
He transcended into a phase he’d never imagined, reborn as the version of himself he’d always hoped to be, a soul who fulfilling its purpose.
The ending is deeper than I thought. I can’t imagine any ending more fitting.
It’s perfect for its title: "Sweet Home".
Guys please recommend me a masterpiece reading like "Sweet Home" https://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/sweet_home/
Any genre is fine, No Romance
Futility births evolution. When desire dies, and we’re left with that hollow feeling, it can destroy us. But sometimes, it births clarity. That’s what the monster meant when it said he “evolved into something completely new.”
It’s like a spiritual ego death. You either turn into something monstrous or...someone awakened.
Our MC, Hyun, he is the latter.
Let me quote again this powerful dialogue from this very webtoon :
"every human being has a desire. It doesnt matter if it's something big or small, you all want something. I wish i could say those desires are always for the best, but thats not true. Most desire destroy, not only people but everything else too. Human desires are like a poison. We've known that for so long, but we chose to ignore it. But we couldn't take it anymore. We had to take a stand and do something, so we locked you all, the masters of your bodies, in a paradise of desires. That man (who already turn into a monster) was happy. He can satisfy his desires for almost eternity..over and over again.. and then i realized something. I thought human desires were endless, but surprisingly they do come to an end at some point. What do you think that man felt once his desires completely wore out? Its futility. After finally escaping from the prison of his desires, he evolved into something completely new based on that sense of futility!"
The MOST HIT STRUCK dialogue i've ever read in a webtoon so far. I can write an essay about this webtoon but currently i'm in awe.
Literally 100000 of 10 stars!!!!
Also that cocoon thing? Thats literally a symbolism of reborn in spirituality. I love the details here!!
I ain’t lyin’ when I say Kiolle is the comedian of this story. He’s amusing in... some ways.
He’s one of the characters that gives the story flavor, y’see?
Gakane was "are you sure you are fine with him alone?" While we are here talking about THE Yuder.
"you wanted to lock us up? How cute! look who's out early for good behavior!"
"Table manners? oh, pardon us! (eat like a starving raccoon)"
find Zakail felt annoyed, "What? You locked us up and expected fine dining? buddy this aint a five star prison."
Yuder so unhinged lol love the disrespect!
If you are the type who can't handle this kind of plot, then i suggest you to marinate this for 4-5 years, or go read the novel. I'm not joking guys i deadly fckn serious
I’ve marinated on this webtoon ever since it came out, it was so long ago that I even forgot this webtoon existed.
Now, I’ve binge-read it, and I have to admit, I like SHAVONNE as a character. I think he’s my favorite from this story. I find him relatable and just so human.
I also love how the author includes how decisions, conscience, regret, and resentment play a part in human life. Not to mention, what Shavonne’s going through is literally how life works, ironically.
I really... really like how the author wrote Shavonne and his lore. The realism hits me hard.
Kiolle spot on a crime scene. His dumb ass doesnt have any idea what misfortune he's heading into this time
The way i keep re-read but also skip the flashback part where PMS tried to do weird things to Eunsung, that was disgusting af that i dont wanna see it again for the 2nd time
The Uchiha of Turning, he was using Genjutsu all this time
Nahan's design is far from what i imagined, but that aside, i never expected with Zuko thing
Last time i read it, it was at 2022.
Yk what does it mean? Yep re-read(๑•ㅂ•)و✧
I love that the author reveal the Queen's backstory, now it all makes sense..
Kiolle is so dumb and funny without even trying bro he is the comedic of this manhwa, i aint make the rules
